The Human Torch's Replacement in FF is...

Didn't Spidey and Johnny Storm basically hate each other (at least in the early days)? I seem to remember that they used to beat the snot out of one another. It seems strange that they the remaining F4 would allow him in given the long time history of bitterness.

Actually, their teenage rivalry did eventually give way to friendship. Although there is still the good natured ribbing as seen in recent issues of FF where Spider-man attended Franklin's birthday party.

Remember that Johnny built the Spider-Car for Spidey (oh wait...)

But they have been shown to be friends for a while now. There was a Paul Jenkins/Mark Buckingham issue of Peter Parker Spider-man a few years back where they hung out and took on the Vulture.

So as character motivation goes... it actually makes sense given the fact that it's in Johnny's video-will that they invite Spider-man to join the team (probably remembering that first issue of Spiderman where he tried to join).

I have been a big fanboy of the fantastic four since the early age of the 80s and when I see stuff like this I know that my departure from comic books in the early 2000s was a good reason. It looks like the ideas are running out in comic land.

I loved the eighties run as well, and having read Hickman's current stuff, I can tell you that he's definitely a fan of that stuff too.

Not much gets me too excited in superhero comics these days (it is comfort-food), but FF is currently at the top of my reading list for cape-books.

He's brought back many hanging plot threads, including Franklin's cosmic powers, the Inhumans city on the moon, Reed's dad Nathanial Richards, the Power Pack (remember when Franklin was a member?) and X-Factor kids (X-Terminators?).



It's admittedly a stunt, but hopefully will bring some more eyeballs an a hugely underrated run that hasn't been getting the kind of positive buzz it deserves.

The Avengers, The New Avengers, and now the Future Foundation (the new FF)

Wolverine still trumps him... Uncanny X-Men, X-Force, The Avengers and The New Avengers. Not sure if he's in any other X-Men titles.
