Stan Lee gets star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

I equate Stan Lee to Walt Disney.

Sure Walt Disney created Mickey Mouse, but Walt Disney was given credit for everything. He didn't hand draw every frame of Snow White. He didn't design every character that bares his name.

Disney was an "Idea Man."

His boys did all the grunt work, and very little was known about them until rather recently...

Stan Lee was the "Idea Man" at Marvel.

He was the ringleader of that particular circus. The artists were the workers that keep the big top up and the elephants in line. But the ring leader always stands in the spotlight and speaks to the crowd.

I think he was looking for people on an open forum to butt lick Stan's career. Not realizing that not everybody will suck on the Stan Lee overhyped marvel nipple.

Stan got a free ride being Goodman's nephew so he had doors open to him that normal 19 year olds would never in their wildest dreams have.

Kirby called him a pain in the *** and and one point wanted to punch Stan in the face because he felt Stan was snooping around Simon and Kirby to get info for Goodman.

Stan and Marvel had a great marketing tool with all that Make Mine Marvel BS and the whole Marvel bullpen hype. which never existed....most of the artist didn't even work in the offices. they only came in to pick up checks and go over whatever Stan was "plotting" so all that marvel hype was cockand bull that kids ate up.

If Stan would have written more stuff in the 70's and 80's I'd give him more respect but I can't. He rode the coat tails of Legendary Illustrators and storytellers

I'd be a Legend too If I had a team equivalent to the Yankees Murderers row Jack Kirby,Steve Ditko, John Romita, Bill Everett,John Buscema,Jim Steranko,Don Heck,Herb Trimpe, Gene Colan.........**** it's easy to be a legend in your own mind if you had those guys working for you.

Hey, all I did was post that Stan got a star and I was happy for him...then a couple other folks (see above) decided to turn it into a ****ing contest of Lee vs. Kirby vs. Ditko.

Seems like every topic devolves into an argument around here.

Sorry.Stan Lee CREATED the characters...the other guys just drew them.
The books would have been just as popular if drawn by Joe Shmoe. Spider-man got even BETTER when Ditko left and John Romita took over.

That's not to say Kirby and Ditko weren't talented, but come on. Lee was the brain behind everything. Without his ideas and stories, the artists would've had nothing to draw.
