You would think these idiots would realize that the THOR marvel character is not the the exact THOR from norse mythology. but these numb nuts never bothered to figure that out.

Jeez... That guy looks really good in that outfit and they have to go politicize the color of his skin? How pathetic.

There was a thread debating the casting of this character on here a while ago - and there were a few people on here who didn't like that Elba was cast in this roll - but I would never lump them in with these guys. They are just a little overly concerned with what I'd consider to be a non-important detail. I disagree with them, but I'd hate for them to get painted with the same brush - if you know what I mean.

Being blatantly racist as the guys in this article requires a certain mental deficiency in the ability to assess reality - which is a whole different thing.

I'm not that familiar with the Thor comics, but if the comic character is white, then I believe the movie counterpart should be also.

I wasn't a fan of the black Nick Fury or Kingpin either, but not because I have anything against blacks, it's just not who they are. I also don't want a white actor playing the Falcon in a Captain America movie. The Falcon has always been Sam Wilson, a black guy.
Same with Blade, Black Panther, Power Man, Storm, etc, etc.

I do think the arguments are a little one-sided also. If Storm had been played by a white actress in the X-Men movies, black fans would have been busting down Marvel's door.

The biggest problem with these kinds of changes is they seem to be motivated by this fear of not being racially diverse enough or politically correct enough, and they seem to cause more commotion than they're worth.

I think Studios should stay true to the origins of a primary hero. But everyone else I believe is suitable to change however you need to. I like Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury, but I didn't believe him as a Jedi master. I LOVE Morgan Freeman as the brains behind Batman. I think that is brilliant. But in the same breath I don't want to see a black Superman anymore than I want to see Nicolas Cage play the part. I also don't want to see a white Falcon either. It's who is right for the part as people know the character to be. And I like main characters to stay true to their roots as I know them. If you start changing them too much, then, in my eyes, your trying to make a social statement, instead of being true to the character. Heroes are iconic. Their not just this month's flavor. So people take their love of these characters seriously. Especially if they have followed them over decades. That being said, the issue with this article is obvious. Those people are very racist and their disdain is clearly more personal than any other reason evident.

I totally agree! Changing the race of a Character for Political correctness just plain irritates me. where does it end? Do we make Hamlet Asian? But he's a royal Dane...it's just not how the Character was written. I also HATE Sam Jackson as Nick Fury...I grew up with the Guy from "The Howling Commandos".

Well, again, you guys might not like the casting choice - but I don't think you're really on the same page with the Council of Conservative Citizens jackboots.

I couldnt even believe that it was REAL....wow...did you see the shot of those ******bags?? Looks like Mein Kamph meets the retirement home for rancid senators....
Personally, I dont think that a god of NORSE mythology should be portrayed by a man of color, but who knows - maybe he is like the "Bronze Idol" or his skin is a radiant 'shell' of earthtone/fire-shade...like Captain Atom.

It has nothing to do with being politically correct. These movies cost tens and hundreds of millions of dollars to make, and the people that finance these movies want to reach as broad an audience as possible.
