    Bones as Batman? Hmmm...

I'm not sure who would want to direct a Batman movie after Nolan's run. And we certainly don't want another Schumacher coming in. Going to TV may be the best bet at that point, but I really can't see them thinking THIS far ahead, when TDKR isn't even filming yet.

I'd be up for a well-done Batman series though. And to not be hamstrung by the film franchise like Smallville has been would be a plus.

"Hollywood Wisdom" (oxymoron, I know) these days seems to be that the audience generally has the attention span for three blockbusters in a series at a time before you re-kickstart/re-invent. Makes sense... within the decade that you do three, there is an entirely new set of consumers within that sweet 18-35 demo they are courting.

Perhaps they will let the Smallville producers do the Young Bruce Wayne series that they initially pitched before settling on a Young Clark Kent.

TV does seem to be the obvious way to keep a franchise going after a movie series runs it's cycle... think about how Batman the animated series kept a generation of kids in Bat-toys and Bat-bedsheets between the two cycles of Batman theatrical films. Lucas is currently extending his license to print his own money by bringing Star Wars to the small screen in Clone Wars and the upcoming forever rumoured live action TV series. This is amidst another slew of rumours that he'd eventually return for a final trilogy of films.

He would like to keep it in line with the Nolan movies. No word on any stories or script, but he wants a real world feel with young adult audiences in mind".
If they really go this route I'm all for it
It has also been mentioned that this is a way to re-introduce The Joker as a completely new version and not step on Heath’s memory/version, as WB knows this is a sensitive subject. They believe that the Joker alone will garner ratings through the roof and are already planning on a closed set with extremely tight security to prevent any leaked footage.
The Joker is indeed too popular a villain to not have him in the show. But they do need to watch how they portray him out of respect for Ledger.

The Actor they have mentioned as a "type" to play Batman/Bruce Wayne is Karl Urban. Karl plays Dr. McCoy in the new Star Trek franchise.
I can totally see him playing the role

I would rather them do another film after the third Nolan one. A new interpretation. Something like Batman Beyond. Do three films of that then they can do something in the present again. Heck, they could get Kevin Conroy to be old Bruce.

Ledger Was a Pill Popping Drug Addict, and Hollywood already awarded him with an Oscar for being so in Death . If the Allure behind his Death Wasn't so Damn Comericalized, Threw the Media, and Leech mobs buying Everything with his face on it, The Dark Knight wouldn't have made that much money, nore would he have gotten an Oscar.

I like the idea of a TV series....have for a long time. I always wanted to see a live action Bat series that focused a bit more on the detective end of things, and had Jim Gordon play a more prominent role, much like the mid seventies comics. Plus, if they dont want to worry about Robin, they could set the show up roughly as the seventies comic, with Dick away at hudson U, and only have him make a few guest appearances. this way they dont have to answer the when/if question as to when robin joins the fray.

Urban would never do a tv series at this point in his career (I would think?) but he does have the look for Bruce and Bats. Much better than Bale for sure.

This could be cool!......Unless they go the Smallville route.

I would love to see Batman Beyond as theatrical live action.

Totally agree....Ledger was over hyped. I'm sure the Oscar was given because of his death and nothing more.

Sorry but ledgers Joker sucked IMO.....that wasn't the Joker.
Cesar Romero's Joker is a 100 times better than the slurring crap Joker Ledger played......

i bet he would think it would be cool too. If hes not too busy. I remember him and Clayton Moore both wanting to do a Phantom like hand off of the mask to a younger hero when thier modern big films were in production.

Strange there was no cameos. I think West thought he could pull it off.

I think Spiderman would be a better soap opera drama ( come on we have to think about the growing teen girl demographic) it wasnt untill i saw how well the story worked in Ultimate Spiderman that i thought this. Hes maybe the only hero I find just as interesting out of costume.

Yeah Ledger was silly. the hype. It made hundreds of millions because of it though. it's Hollywood. he didnt do it on purpose. If he had wrecked his pickup truck or choked on a chicken bone instead would it have been as glamorous a death?

Wonder if they haver someone set up to "accidentally" die in teh next one. Would you put it past hollywood?

That's kind'a harsh dude. I don't think he was a drug addict. Heath Ledger claimed that after playing the Joker he couldn't sleep well any more. He claimed he could only think of doing bad things to people. I've heard stories of this happening to other people/actors too.

The actor who played Leon in Blade Runner once said the character seemed to stay with him even after the film was done. He said he had some bad run-in's with people and wasn't acting as himself. Robert Culp of GAH, also said for a time he was acting like Bill Maxwell in real life and his wife became distressed over it and he had to really take control back. It's method acting. The actor becomes so immersed in a character they can't separate themselves from the fictional person they played. I think it can be taken too far because an actor wants to turn in a great performance.

I agree if Heath Ledger had not died, and the role had not been the Joker, the hype and the box office returns on The Dark Knight would not have been so stratospherically high. No future Batman film, no Superhero film even, can compare with the business TDK did. The factors which propped it up were numerous and I don't think you can plan for a film to be that big.
