I don't think I was Harsh at all.
Nore did I write, what I did to Engage in a Philiosophical Debate on the Usage of Drugs and Excuses for them. If I was harsh, writing something, like he deserved to Die, enters my mind as Harsh, which I did not. I liked His Joker, do not get me wrong at all in that reguard, However outta paying Respect to the Man, that was already Done with an Oscar.

I agree With KW too ..., I personally Never wanna see that version of the Joker again , not outta respect, but it really was not the Joker That I know.

Look Man ..., My Family and I have been to the Brink of War and then Beyond for the better part of 10 years, with a Member using Drugs . It's not fun stuff ..., and to be honest, I am somewhat Short on the Subject. I was never a Saint Walker myself in Life either . I will Appologise to you, if I did offend.

I think the initial rush to see Dark Knight may have been fueled by Ledger's sensationalized death, but the fact that movie continued to make millions of dollars every week, way beyond it's release date, spoke for the fact that it is a GREAT movie. And those are few and far between. Goodwill and good word of mouth sustained it beyond the morbid curiosity of seeing a dead actors' last full performance.

Not sure I buy the whole "Joker was in his head" thing either. It's been bandied about, but Ledger had apparently been on prescription medication for some time, and was known to drink. The combination killed him, not method acting.

Back to the point of the thread, I would love to see my favorite superheroes on the small screen. Smallville has shown that even a show that has a younger demographic can be intelligent and interesting to watch when written by our generation. I also think Movie and TV iterations can and should co-exist. Bring on Hulk, Wonder Woman, and Batman. I'd really like it if HBO or Showtime or FX would take on a big name superhero and give it the intelligent adult treatment that they give other shows like Deadwood, Sons of Anarchy, Dexter, etc.

I think this could be really good. But I agree that you need more of that HBO mentality behind it. I don't think it should be a "Smallville"-style Freak of the Week kind of show. They should have one overarching plot for the season... sorta like "True Blood" does, where 1 season = 1 book.

Sorry but ledgers Joker sucked IMO.....that wasn't the Joker.
Cesar Romero's Joker is a 100 times better than the slurring crap Joker Ledger played......
WOW... I didn't think anyone else here would agree..?!?!?!

I saw the movie only last year. It held my attention alright, Ledger's unhinged portrayal was good, but a bit far-fetched sometimes, especially with the other hoodlums.

OK..., this comment from a guy who lived-and-breathed the '60s show...

Still, I liked Nicholson's style SO MUCH more than Ledgers. Romero's Joker was also very engaging. There was depth, not just 'street-murkiness'.

Despite Nicholson's portrayal, we are living in a 'post-Killing Joke' period here.

I liked Jack's Portrayal. He was more Joker than Ledger's version. Jack had the unhinged psychotic character down. Had Jack done that role as a younger man no one would even be mentioning ledger's portrayal.

The scene in the 89 movie with him talking to the burned corpse of the mobster was very much the Joker.

Being a fan of Romero's Hollywood work and knowing his acting ability he easily could have played a sinister Joker add his now classic performance of the character and no one would even question that Romero is the best Joker.

I didn't care so much for either. In the comics the Joker is always more animated and hyper. The last two movie ones were way too sedate. (And Jack was pretty much just playing Jack.)

Ledger's Joker almost had to veer away from Nicholson's. Nicholsons' role was too iconic, mostly because he played up his usual screen persona, and cranked it up a few notches. Both represented different, and valid interpretations of the character as seen over the years, as did Romero's. The cool thing about the Joker is he can be the silly prankster, the sociopathic showman, or the deranged terrorist, all in the same story.

Ledger's Joker was the Comic Book Character made Flesh, and brought into a more realistic World. He was PERFECT! While I enjoyed Jack as the Joker(he was the ONLY good thing about that Movie)...his Joker was just more of Jack just being himself. Even Stephen King said, he regretted casting Nicolson in the Shinning, because he wanted the Character to be slowly driven crazy...but with Jack...he's already there.
