Has Brandon Routh still got a chance?

I like Routh...I wouldn't mind if he stayed as Supes.

Believe it or not...the maroon costume didn't bother me one bit.

I also happen to like Superman Returns.

The two things I didn't like about the movie...ok...the three things I didn't like about the movie...were...the actress playing Lois Lane, the kid storyline...and having Lex Luthor once again for the one billionth time...enough already with that character.

Fortunately, you don't have a say in the matter...anymore than I do. I was just going by Nolan's comment about a "young Superman".

BTW...Tom Welling admitted at Comic Con, that WB had approach about playing Superman in the new Movie.

I actually agree with Hector on this one. I liked Routh and the suit was fine by me....I mean every new artist who does the comic has a slightly different take on the suit so why should the movie be any different.
Lois was bad casting, enough with Lex already and the kid sub plot made no sense for the character

I have to agree with you there, the actress play Lois was no near near as good looking as she should be, also, the sassiness was lacking a bit.

I liked the idea of the kid, it was something different and it moved the story along. It's the next progression to their relationship so it makes sense.

What other villain would you like to see? I'd personally love to see Bizarro, although that would be very geeky.

I think Routh would be fine again in the role. Like many others here, I think it was the writing and direction that doomed the rebirth, not the actor. BUT...the risk the studio takes in attempting to reboot the franchise again is selling it to the public as a whole new concept. Fair or not, do you try and reboot the franchise again with the same actor associated with the last one? I'm certain that is on the studio's mind.

Even though I'm spoiled for Chris Reeve, (RIP), Brandon Routh is OK as Superman. But I'm for keeping the traditional suit, and losing Lex Luthor. How about Grodd or Bizarro or Braniac?

I loved Routh as Superman and for some reason I just don't like Tom Weiling. I don't get all the compliants about returns as I really liked it. I just watched today as it was on cable.

the link that says costume pics just surface for the burton film are grossly inaccurate. those pics have been floating around for years - though always in the rumor category.

in the Returns film I LOVED the action sequence starting in the bar with Jack Larson and teh new Jimmy to the landing in the ballpark. I loved the casting of spacey as lex. i liked routh as superman. i thought the premise of the story was good.

I thought the ability to lift kryptonite island went a bit outside of the parameters set for superman's powers.

I despised the love child story line and couldn't stand Lois (was she old enough to drive?)

No. I want a fresh new actor who looks the part NOT a wanna be Chris Reeve. I already had Chris and he was great.......if they cast Routh and this movie also tanks it'll be another generation before we see another Superman.

Superman Returns had it's little fine moments the rest blew chunks and it was singers wet dream mess.....

I want a bad *** goose bump Superman. Like when I first saw George Reeves and Chris take flight.......

I'll say it again I want a Superman that crashes through walls and Beats the **** out of someone....It's SuperMAN for crying out loud!!!!

Number one, the studio almost HAS to go for an all new cast to avoid any confusion or attempts to tie the new film to any past effort. Plus, Supes has to be SUPER---Smash through stuff, throw some tanks, push planets out of orbit.... AMAZE the audience, dont lull them to sleep while Superman perves out by hovering outside houses and spying on women with his x-ray vision!! Yes, he has to save a cat from a tree or help a little old lady cross the street like the "big blue boyscout" he is, but he can still open a can of Super Whup on the bad guys!!

The only cool part about Superman Returns to me was the bullet bouncing off his eye. That was a bit of a 8 year old kid WOW! moment. Every time Supes is on screen is should be like this. Blow the audience away with what a "strange visitor from another planet with powers and abilities far beyond a normal man" can really do!!
