Has Brandon Routh still got a chance?

Sounds like they may not have closed the door completely in his face and judging by some of the fan comments, he has a lot of support.

I never hated him personally ... Just the story, atmosphere and of course his suit in Superman Returns.

I wouldn't hate seeing him again if they corrected all of the above.

I'm with you, Mikey. I thought he did a fine job, considering what he was given to work with. Personally, I blame Bryan Singer for the film's flaws--it was as if he didn't understand the character.

I think he understood the character just fine. I think he tried too hard to make a Richard Donner film. I love the whole movie up until the climax which I felt was too long and drawn out. I usually lose interest when Lex's boat sinks.

I didn't much care for the Superman costume either. How do you screw that up? Its like the easiest costume.

The guy that played Jimmy was priceless. He was my favorite character in the film.

I'm not opposed to him returning, but he has to drop the Reeves persona, haicut and mannerisms. Since when did Superman have brown hair? The suit was fine, just pump up the red and lose the maroon. If he can pack on several pounds of muscle, I can totally see him playing Supes and being completely different than Returns. There's already a familiarity with the actor, so why not keep him?

I liked Routh...I wouldn't mind a bit if he returned as Superman.

One thing, if they do keep Routh I hope they get rid of the actress that played Lois.

                I REALLY couldn't stand her.

She was like what ... 15 years old ?

In all fairness, I can't blame him for the movie being poor even though I have been. He was ok, but I didn't like his hair. Or the costume. But he was very tall and i think superman should be tall. Like 6'5 tall. Dean Cain looked too short and I could never accept him as Superman.

I agree with axe..but singer did say it was a continuation of the original franchise...which was the FIRST (of many) mistakes. I would have left Luthor out! Let's have a super villian that can challenge the Man of Steel...physically. And..yes...action is always good in a superhero film! Supes did not throw a single punch. I think that non-comic geeks must believe that Lex is the only adversary Superman has...considering he was in all but one of the 1970s/80s films plus the most recent one too...

The costume didn't bother me...as for Routh...I can take him or leave him.

I liked Routh in the role. I felt he did a good job, which was no small feat. He not only played Superman, but Christopher Reeve as Superman.

But unfortunately, I think if they use Routh, then the general public who remembers Returns is going to want to know "Hey what happened to the kid?" and all of that. SR has a tremendous amount of baggage left to deal with. Which is why it was a horrible choice for a franchise reboot. I maintain it is a good movie, just not the kind of movie Warners or audiences wanted at the time.

I would love to see Routh return as Superman, he did an excellent job. I never had a problem with the suit or the story, I found it quite interesting personally. If I did have a critisism, I'd say it played out a little too long.

I thought Routh was good but a little too young. Now, he'd probably be just right for Superman.
