That's a shame. I've always considered Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman to form a kind of DC holy trinity. Wonder Woman needs to hop in her Invisible Jet and break through that glass ceiling.

Though... didn't Helen Slater's Supergirl () and Halle Barry's Catwoman () do that already?

Speaking of Halle Barry's Catwoman, I just thought, what if they cast Tanit Phoenix but then "update" WW's costume to "appeal" to "today's audience"? I will not be "pleased".

Ah... one thing at a time, I guess. I'm sure if this gets made I'll have a whole litany of complaints to vent - but if Phoenix gets cast, at least the eyes will be content.

When Tanit and I dated, she did mention on many occasions that she was interested in the part. She used to dress up in this Wonder Woman costume I bought for her...she did look the part..let me tell you! Those were the days.

She may do well in the part. I do think she will have to some intensive training to completely fit the bill.

She needs to bulk up a lot with good definition to be able to pull off Wonder Woman. If she is an experienced model a good director and acting coach could pull it off.

I don't understand why Wonder Woman has to be six feet and bulked up? Her powers were the gifts of her gods so I hope they use someone who looks like this and hate the idea of a she-hulk looking Wonder Woman. I do hope they go back to a movie as I'm not sure I'd like a smallville type of Wonder Woman show.

The modern concept of an "Amazon Warrior" has changed a great deal since Lynda Carter's day. I think contemporary audiences would expect a bit more from their heroines. Think Xena, Sarah Conner, Ripley, Lara Croft mixed in with the lovely winning charm Lynda Carter brought to the role (not that Ms Carter wasn't fit and statuesque either!).

My fear of the TV show is less the Smallville, and more the Ally Mcbeal! I'm having flashbacks of this...

Given David E Kelly's strengths on a show like The Practice, I'd probably want him to draw upon Greg Rucka's run, where there was a great deal of political intrigue centred around her Amazonian ambassadorship, mixed in with action.

Well I'm not thinking Lynda Carter as I read Wonder Womans comic and have since the 70s and her powers are still even today the gifts of the gods so please no Xena wonder woman! Sarah Corner was Not bulked up , maybe in good shape, nor do I consider ripley or even Lara bulked up so I'd go with those types but please nothing like Xena though. I never seen Alley Mcbeal so I can't coment on that. I guess I didn't miss much.

Compared to Tanit Phoenix, Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor was bulked up -- and had good muscle definition. She looked strong. I'd say that Tanit's arms are in the Ally McBeal (Calista Flockhart) League -- definitely not the Justice League...

                      Calista Flockhart...........................................Tanit Phoenix

She's got the look but she would need to put on some well defined muscle.

A lot of people seem to forget Wonder Woman and Supergirl are 2 different heros.

Supergirl can look pretty and skinny because she's naturally super no matter what.

Wonder Woman is an Amazon ... She needs to be more than just big boobs.
She needs to be genuinely big and meaty.

A realistic Wonder Woman would leave guys wondering --- "is that a dude?"

I agree with you! People who say she needs to be a she-hulk type are not aware maybe her strengh is actually not from being beefy or muscular but are more magical based so yeah she can be beautiful and femenine and it's in line within her story so yeah she can be like Supergirl, if by that you mean pretty and feminine and still strong.

Basically Ally Mcbeal was the 1990's lawyer version of that 1960's Wonder Woman pilot! It was truly odd seeing the cultural backlash to 3rd Wave feminism in the form of the reinvented tonge-in-cheek "Man-hungry Spinster". Even more odd given the strength of David E Kelly's female lawyers in The Practice. Although supposedly McBeal's character was partially based on Kelly's wife, Catwoman herself, Michelle Pfieffer.

Every time I saw Calista Flockhart on that show, I just wanted to feed her Big Macs and Pie.

I think that you're ignoring a large part of the Wonder Woman story. The Amazons both in Legend and the Wonder Woman Universe, were a race of Warriors. That implies a demanding and rigorous physical regimen. In the original DC Universe, Wonder Woman competed against the champions of Paradise Island in order to win the honour of going to the United States. These narratives tell me that she has to have an athletic body type. Tanit Phoenix has a lovely figure, but I wouldn't consider her as having the body any where near athletic.

Even the Silver Age focussed on her physical strength as a gift from the gods, and she was compared to Hercules. I don't think that she should have a body builders physique, but definitely the physique of an Athlete.

Allison Stokke would make a better Wonder Woman than Tanit Phoenix!
