Big Fish. One of my all time favorite movies. Makes a grown man weep everytime. If you do not get this movie. You need to get a heart.

Burton is definitely an acquired taste, but I love a lot of his stuff.....That being said I have no idea what he was thinking with this Superman crap....

        Hmmmm....

There's a whole section on iconicness in "Understanding Comics;" and I don't think too many movie types have had opportunity to read it....

Edward Scissorhands is awesome. That costume is not.

I like some of his earlier movies, "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure", "Beetlejuice", "Edward Scissorhands" and "Ed Wood", but that's it. Everything else is a disaster.

I recently watched his "Alice in Wonderland" and the only thing keeping me from dying of boredom was wondering how that story could be told any more mucked up. Meanwhile, that movie is in the top 10 highest grossing movies of all time now, so he's not going anywhere soon.

That's an interesting point. It actually reminds me of a cool design concept for the Marvel character Eternity, or something.

I like Burton on his own stuff. Licensed creations and him are a mixed bag. Batman was great for it's time (although it doesn't hold up all that great), but Batman Returns was too Burton. POTA was awful.

His Sleepy Hollow is a total reinvention, but I like it.

I guess overall, I run hot and cold with Burton. But then, many famous directors are hit and miss.

                  I liked ...
Sleepy Hollow ..., Alice, 9 , Nightmare before X-mas, Edward Scissor Hands, & Beetlejuice . I didn't care much for the Batman flicks.

That costume looks similar to one that Superman wore in the Godfall graphic novel by Michael Turner. I wonder if Turner got inspiration from this Burton suit?

I'm guessing even Burton wouldn't have the balls not to use the classic Supes costume at some point in that movie. It would have been interesting to see though as I do love his vision; love him or hate him, his movies do have amazing visual flare.

                        I liked Sleepy Hollow.

That Supes outfit is complete blasphemy. Utterly horrible. I can think of much much better ways to waste 50 million dollars. At least it didn't make it.

You mean Captain Universe of the Enigma Force from the Micronauts? Or Captain Marvel as written by Peter David? That costume could work for those 2 characters.

I'm not sure about those two, I was just kinda reminded of this kind of cosmic Marvel type character. I don't know if he's around now, cuz I only knew him from 80s comics:

                              Eternity:

It totally sucks for Superman to me, either way.

Chances are it wouldn't've been used long... but, people in this thread sure
picture it being so... I think it's all wasted "Burton hate"... 'cause a take
on the "classic red/blue/yellow" suit would've been practically MADATORY
at that point... heck, the black/silver stuff that was in the comics that that
Burton suit was based on went away pretty quickly... if that's any indication.
