This part I agree with. I think he's ruining DC too. Years ago I read an article where he was saying that he wanted to kill Nightwing off and I've hated him ever since. With him, everytime sales get low he decides to have another Crisis and now its at the point where it doesn't mean anything. Even killing Batman off had no meaning. We all knew he'd be back because it would be a bad financial move to permanently off Bruce Wayne. It's at the point where I no longer enjoy the Bat books (Batgirl and Gotham Sirens are the exception) and they are the focus of my collection....or were since I'm quiting with Batman Incorporated.

Didio needs to go. He can take Grant Morrison with him.

True man.....I got sick of How Batman was being handled a while back and quit cold Turkey. I can't stomach any kind of gimmicks to sell books. But that's me.

Batman is one of the Greatest Detectives ever, would it kill anyone if he was written with that in mind. Find a great mystery writer and let that person write a Hard boiled Batman Mystery tale. With someone who can actually draw shadows an evoke Batman's Darkness not over muscled pin-up shots....

That's a problem with any detective kind of character: often the character is smarter than the author, so it's tough to come up with the sort of twists you'd need to really bring out the deductiveness of the character. Hittin' guys is pretty easy to write.

Just picked it up and started reading it, not a Dark story, put a modern perspective of Superman's origin. JMS imho, is a very good writer, so, I look forward to finishing, will give a better review when I do get to finish reading it!

From what I read about this, it seems to be nothing more than the *******ization of the Superman character.

The art's nice. Davis has changed his style up a bit. The coloring looks a lot like Francis Manupol's work on Superboy and Flash. The costume has a few redesigns. Don't really care for the boots or the smallish, speedo-type shorts like the Superman Returns costume.

As for the story, it's got a few nice points to it, but JMS has borrowed from the various tellings of the Superman origin. One of the most surprising is Lois and Clark and the focus on the government seeking him out as alien.

It was good — nothing really unique. But Birthright was good, too. So was Secret Origin but again there wasn't really anything new in them.

Maybe the next volume will be more fruitful, if there is one. I like Superman being a bit at odds with the government

What I really don't like is DC continuously allowing artists to do away wiith Superman's forehead curl. What's funny is baby Kal-El is drawn with it, but Davis all but does a way with it, drawing him as a boy and young man. But that's a nitpick.
