One of the best episodes for sure. And even the best Smallville episodes usually had some wasted moments on other characters, or a moment where you go "aw, now why'd they go and do that?". Not this one. Perfect from start to finish.

Durance is now my favorite Lois for sure after this one.

Welling looked great as classic Clark.

I would have loved to have seen Welling in the suit, but I think we're going to have to wait until the last episode for that one.

I found the juxtaposition of Present Clark using the slicked back hair for his Blur identity, which at this point it his secret identity, versus Future Clark using the slicked back hair for his Clark persona (Superman's secret identity) interesting.

Just lots of good and great moments here in an episode that frankly started off looking like it would be a bit of a stinker.

Notice in the end of the Episode he also had his Hair slicked back(and flew...just a little bit). After last night's Episode...it's apparent he's well on the way to becoming SUPERMAN! His doubt in himself is gone...and he's seen the future.

I enjoyed it and found it interesting as well. I have not been a regular watcher for years.

But at the risk of throwing water over the good vibe I think it's pathetic that it's taken 10 years to get this show to this place. I predict it will not be until the last episode, possibly even the last shot of the last episode before you see him in tights and a cape as "Superman". I'm prepared to be wrong.

Even I tuned in last night and while I liked what I saw, I would not bet against Scott.

Five years is one thing but after a decade they should give us a little more. If not a full on series, a TV Movie. A mini series. Something.
AFAIC Welling should just be the new "movie" Supes.

I never was into SMALLVILLE but from what I've heard it is not bad and
has only gotten better with age.

Welling and his SMALLVILLE crew have earned the right to make it into the
movies and, frankly, it sounds like it'd be a good business move as well.
After the wackiness of SUPERMAN RETURNS, it seems like a safe thing to do.

Geez, I wish I was producing this upcoming Supes movie myself
with Welling as Supes...I'd score, I'm just sure of it!

Honestly I would prefer they just rename the series and make it a Superman series with the same cast. Let the movie people do their thing, I want to see something more often than every couple few years.

I don't know Scott, while I have waited very patiently for him to don the sujit, just like everyone else, if you think about it, he was a freshman in highschool when the show started.....4 years highschool, 4 years college....2 years gettign established at the DP. it really makes sense. The show really picked up steam all last season and so far this season has been awesome. Next week Lois gets possessed by Isis. Maybe we will get a glimpse of Black Adam?
I will also say, I was not really too happy about having Darkseid as a spirit that possesses people. the guy they had him in a few weeks ago was boring. Hope they do better later in the season

I agree it's been somewhat frustratingly slow at times, but Smallville has evolved way beyond what it was originally intended to be. The original producers, Miller and Gough, conceived the show more as a Dawson's Creek meets Superman, with some Buffy freakishness thrown in. They had a five-year plan in mind. The show was more successful than they thought, but yet Warners' film division was trying to relaunch the movie franchise. This limited what they could and couldn't do. Superman Returns came and went, and Smallville went on beyond the original outline, so Clark's progression into Superman slowed. When Miller and Gough left, many of the restrictions they had put on Clark's evolution into Superman went with them. The new producers have shifted the focus more on straight action-adventure and building the DCU mythology than interpersonal drama mixed with heroics.

I don't think Warner Bros. wants a Superman TV series, or they would have let Smallville change into it a long time ago. I think they are loosening the reins this year given that Smallville has been one of the few CW/WB shows that has made them a profit, and it's going away after this year.

                          But that's just my take.

Definitely a great ep and I now consider this show a "must watch" on Friday.

Personally I think the way the whole thing has played out has been pretty good. More than anything I'm just glad that Superman has been successful on television for a decade even if he wasn't in the suit. Thinking about David Carrodine's (sp?) rant from Kill Bill overall I think Smallville as a whole was a great interpretation of the character for this modern generation.

As far as new Superman series, spin off or movie I think it would flop. The elements that made the show work couldn't be applied to a regular Superman series and remain interesting for as long. As far as spin off, IMO the show works because of the ensemble cast... although I really like Justin Hartley's Green Arrow I think without the "Superman Family" it would get really boring really quickly. And as far as a movie goes my warning beacons go off and my mind flashes back to the Star Trek TNG series of films. Again, I really liked that "show" but it didn't translate well story wise to the big screen. And ( I know I'll get grief for this next statement) the Star Trek spin offs never grabbed me and actually bored me to tears.
