Since Zack Snyder is directing Superman, and He's worked with him before my Guess, and pick for General Zod is...Gerard Butler!
Not just because of Synder...I think he'd be PERFECT for Role. Plus, like Terrence Stamp...he's a Brit.

While I whoeheartedly disagree with using Zod in the film, Butler is 100 percent perfect for that role. I think an adaptation of John's Braniac story would have made a stellar movie, but what do I know?

Someone suggested Jude Law somewher. I think, he'd be pretty good as Zod, but Butler would be cool. Wouldn't mind Butler as a burly, thick Shusteresque Superman, either, if he can do a midwest accent.

If Snyder keeps Routh as Supes,(unlikely), Jude Law would be a good match. If not certainly Butler would be cool. The question remains then: Who will play Superman?

the filmmakers have already said (as of this weekends Dark Horizons report) Routh isnt in contention at all. I hate to say this, but it might be Welling. the plot of the film apparently revolves around a young Clark Kent deciding how best to use his powers....ie--becoming Superman. That storyline smacks of a Smallville upgrade. I hope not though. I want to see a "fresh" film with no ties to any past Superman projects.

Agree on Butler as Zod though....although I was hoping for Brainiac for main baddie.

Yeah, that is TOTALLY the direction this season of Smallville is taking. Man, I'll be keeping my Fingers crossed....WELLING FOR SUPERMAN!!!!
