Little late, but I hate the Damien character. I'm supposed to hate him, and I've never understood that writing strategy. I take it as a personal F-U to me from DC.Comment

I hear ya...But for us "old-schoolers" I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND Dan Jurgens' "Time Masters:Vanishing Point" and Len Wein's "DCU:Legacies" (with AMAZING artwork by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez and Dave Gibbons)...Two real gems on the stands today

Other than the usual Denny O'Neil/Neal Adams/Steve Englehart/Marshal Rogers issues, which classic storylines from the seventies and prior do you guys recommend?
It's a completely goofy premise, but I still have a soft spot for the one where all the Villains get together to go on trail for the right to claim that they killed Batman.

That's a tough one....besides not being able to pick any of those guys your hands are also sorta tied by lack of actual "storylines" in today's sense of the word...Most stuff was two-parters at best, besides the "Who Killed The Batman" story.
That being said, I enjoyed Len Wein's mini-run in the late 70s/early 80s was it? He brought back Two-Face, Calendar Man, Selina Kyle, The Joker, Mr Freeze....(at least I hope I'm right that it was all Wein on the scripts)Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

Years ago, there was a guy that had what seemed to be the entire MLJ super-hero libraby available on-line. Many of the titles featured Irv's art. His stuff in the GA was simply fantastic!Comment

I think Novick gets overlooked on Batman because he initially stuck pretty closely to Carmine Infantino's style in the late Silver Age, and then switched over to copying Neal Adams' Batman pretty closely in the Bronze Age. But he added his own touches to both. I always liked his Robin. Apparently Mego did too, since they used his Robin headshots on the 76 and 79 DC Cards!
Novick's Golden Age career gets overlooked just as much. He co-created the Shield, the first patriotic hero, for pete's sake!

Heh, everytime I see this cover it makes me think Bats is having a major gas attack. Menace indeed."Crayons taste like purple!"Comment

Not all love Dark Knight Returns. It was ok, and I liked the Joker portrayal, but I dont like Bale as Batman, or the chubby cheeks Bat cowl design....amongst other issues.
There should only be one Batman in the comics. ONE. fifty billion wannabes doesnt cut it for me, and really waters down the whole Bat mystique.
Heck, I'm not happy with all the Robins currently running around either."Crayons taste like purple!"Comment
