Alex Ross' NEW Captain America

Longtime fan of Ross, but I do question if EVERYONE has to be shiny, and I also think this looks quite similar to his unused Spider-Man movie designs:

I'm okay with it, but it's kind of an odd mix. Seems like a metallic verion of Cap's shirt and cowl over a policeman's uniform. Maybe that's what Ross was trying to get at: Cap is a Super Hero police officer. Too early to tell.

And like I said, it just seems like it's reworked from the unused Spidey design above, with belt and bucaneer boots added.

I wonder what Archie Comics will think? Cap's original triangluar shield was changed due to a threatened lawsuit from Archie, who said Cap's weapon looked too much like the chestpiece of their character, the Shield. Now Cap has it on his chest, just like the Shield.

The blue pinstrip up the legs really does make him look like COPtain America to me.

I don't know, Ross is tops in my book, but honestly, to me, this looks kind of phoned-in for him.

Seeing as Archie only revives the Mighty Crusaders for PSA's and the obligatory "See? they're still our copyright" cameos, probably nothing will come of this.

Oh Impact comics line, why did you have to fail?

Hopefully Ross will take another couple of passes at this design before it is finalized.

From the uniform and accessories (knife and gun), it's pretty obvious that the new Cap is The Winter Soldier AKA Bucky Barnes. Who else is best suited for the legacy other than Hawkeye or Falcon?

Interesting tease they gave us in the latest issue of The New Avengers with how Hawkeye sees himself, but I think it was designed to throw us off the scent (he did wear the uniform briefly in the Fallen Son mini).

Usually I dig Ross' designs but I'm not crazy about this one...bleh

I'm not sure they are trying for the Cop look rather than trying to incorporate some of the Winter Soldier's look and accessories into the mix. Bucky is quite fond of black and pistols...




After the JSA Citizen Steel controversy, I'm sure Ross is staying well away from shiny metal codpieces...

Sort of a combo of Ultimates cap and classic comedian from the watchmen. I don't like the shiny steel uniform What is this Mylar?? If the new suit isn't "chain mail" like cap's classic one why even have the metal look just make it kevlar (or some marvel universe upgrade material) lets face it even the shinyest satin doesn't gleam like that. Ross had always gone for a Realistic vein to his costumes he seems to have abandoned of late

I didn't realize there was a Citizen Steel controversy! I saw where DC altered a recent Superman/Batman cover that originally showed Batman getting really familiar with Orion's wife, Bekka.

Obviously, Ross likes his patriots S-H-I-N-Y.

Not crazy about the outfit. I've seen fishing lures that aren't that shiney. Considering the metalic look of the outfit, I wonder if Stark isn't involved?

I had the same thoughts on the similarity to the GA Shield.
