As a God fearing man who believes in Christ Jesus, I know what I believe to be real and what is represented as Mythology. Norse,Greek,Roman mythology are fine works of Literature and I'm sure at one time people believed in them. These works are taught in school and loved by millions including myself. It shouldn't be changed because of ones beliefs. Real christians know the difference between Thor and Jesus. baby Christians don't and I hate when they're considered the majority......

Hmmm. I actually like it. Thanks for sharing Brian. I Do hope we do see or have it confirmed that Thor will have his helmet in the film. I have yet so see any images of him with it, so I am wondering if the scrapped it and we are getting a helmetless Thor. Like Hector said maybe he wears it in battle scenes.

That is exactly what I thought! The second I saw that pic I heard Queen "FLASH - ah aaah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah..."

I appreciate attempt at Kirby touches - but it looks like poop to me.

I do think the alien thing makes sense - for the reasons Hector pointed out, but also for the fact that if we're suppose to still care about Tony Stark's amazing technology they can't suddenly introduce actual magic.

I know it works in the comics to have super-technology AND actual magic in the same universe - but in the context of live action I think they work against each other.

It's unfortunate - but I think within any group the loudest is not necessarily representative of the majority - still, you have to admit, even "Harry Potter" gets a fair amount of backlash from a certain crowd - and the mythology of "Harry Potter" doesn't refer to "gods" of any kind.

The vibe I get is John Byrne interpetation of Kirby THOR. See The Trial of Galactus after the Negative Zone saga in the old FF comic. Byrne usually took Kirby's style and made it slicker. Odin appeared at Galactus's trial. The idea they would be aliens and not true norse gods can be traced back to an idea Alex Ross had when he co-created Earth X. I don't like the idea but it's out there.

Speaking of Byrne, it's kind of interesting to read his take on it (as well as Jim Shooter's).
In comicbook universes, mind you, I have no problem with "real" gods. Shooter used to insist that Thor represented Arthur C. Clarke's "advanced technology" paradigm, and I agreed that Reed Richards probably thought that, too. But in my own mind, Thor was really a god, as was Hercules, Odin, Zeus, and even Toomazooma!

Hopkins does not look bad for Odin. I still want to see a helmet for Thor though.

I actually like the idea that the Asgardians are a advanced race of beings that ancient peoples worshiped as gods. There may be a fine line some where.
