    Norton not in the Avengers

Rumor all over the internet that Marvel will now cast an unknown in the Avengers movie. This is bad news, I think they should bring back Eric Bana as Banner. At least we know for sure that the Hulk is in it.

That's sad. I thought Norton was perfect. I wanted consistency in
THE AVENGERS. I wanted to see Norton and Robert Downey, Jr. in
    THE AVENGERS...if that's not happening that's a BUST!

Here's my concern - Marvel is beginning to take on the attitude that anyone can play these roles. That these are little more than costume films. I think that will be proven true with their reboot of Spiderman and I think a similar fate may hold for the Avengers. This could be the start of the decline from the golden years of our beloved heroes on the big screen. It took a long time to make superheroes a valid commodity in the film industry. You get a number of high profile flops and that validity could be lost once more.

The idea of Norton, Downey Jr, Evans and Jackson arguing on the big screen over what to do about the Hulk was something I was looking forward too.

I hope it's not true. But Norton wasn't too happy with the finished product of the Hulk. So much so that he ducked out of most of the promotional tour of the movie, so it's not really surprising, if true.

I think you make a good point Chris. Norton may feel inclined to think he could get type cast in the role, so he's wanting more dollars upfront for the job. Since Marvel must surely already have budget woes with trying to maintain costs associated with an all star cast AND heavy special effects, they probably felt it necessary to cut ties with Norton since the Hulk will probably have more screen time than Bruce Banner.

I liked the Norton Hulk movie. I was surprised it didn't do very well at theaters. Bana's Hulk was awful I thought. Long, drawn out, boring, with a confusing ending. Oh and Hulk dogs? O_O

Bana's Hulk movie is what killed Norton's. Too many people were suckered into Ang Lee's mess of a movie, so the much better Norton vehicle never got a chance to reach the audiences it should have. It was just too soon after the metaphysical BS of the Lee pic.

                  Hmmmm....

I like the idea of using unknowns. You don't get as much of the baggage you do with a known actor. "I know this, because the Hulk knows this...."

That's how I feel also and Really as long as the actor gives a solid version of Banner who gives a monkey's butt anyway it's the Hulk I want to see.....

Yeah, but you need a good actor to anchor the CGI creature too. I wish they'd just make Lou Fergino green (no need to paint him anymore) and make him appear larger. I'd much rather see a "real" Hulk.

This royally bites and sucks!! If they go with an unknown, I hope they find someone who is similar to either Bill Bixby and/or Edward Norton. Not any old average schmoe. I loved the Edward Norton version of the Incredible Hulk and I am openly disgusted at the lack of success it had at the box office. It was to me, one of the all time best movies of 2008 along with Iron Man and DC's Dark Knight. Can't believe it lost to Kung Fu Panda. And it's all because it was probably prejudged as a result of the
Ang Lee/Eric Bana trainwreck of a Hulk movie.
                        Jeers to Marvel.

Yeah but having Ferrigno in the movie is not the same without Bixby. Plus if it's gonna be a real Hulk it should have that Kirby Frankenstein look then you can sell Hulk being smaller and a Monster. Otherwise I do like the CG version. I liked the second Hulk movie 100 times better than that crap that Ang lee did....

I'm just imagining Ferigno in the blue motion capture suit.
