    Batman '66 on DVD?

    Just curious:

With all the ABC villain cameos on the B&B cartoon, & Egghead appearing concretely in a recent tie-in comic, is there a thaw in the Fox/Time Warner battle over Batman '66?

I'm seeing Fox classics on TCM (also Time-Warner)now, too.

And when I got the 2007 Vincent Price boxed set of DVD, both studios were represented.

    Hoping all this bodes well...
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

Unfortunately it will never get done. Warner owns Batman...Fox did the TV series...and Barris thinks the Batmobile was such an essential part of the show he wants a cut as well. Plus you'll never get ALL the guest stars/Villains to ok the final product. Just one giant cluster you know what.

Most have died already, give it another few years and none will be left, including Barris

            >Batman 1966 series will NEVER come out on dvd

Never say never. They showed remastered versions on cable a few years back; so they're out there. Just a matter of the involved parties getting hungry (or dead) enough.

....might be a LOOOONNNNGGGG time though....

I actually think think it will come out one day. BUT, because of the various issues it will be butchered and with all the stars/people involved dead at that point there will be no extras. This is one instance where I say go for the 10 disc "uncut studio masters" bootleg. I have it and am more than satisfied with it.

the characters in B&B while shown and it's obvious who their supposed to be are not exactly as they appear in the 66 show. and many are unnamed. that has to be for copyrights infringement issues. The tv only villians are probably the intellectual propery of the scriptwriters (or even the doziers depends how the writers contracts were written), where as their designs are the property of FOX as the producer. same way the daleks, cybermen and K-9 work in Dr who.

it's really sad if you look at how much this show is loved and how well bootlegers do selling it, there is a bag of money to be made by all concerned (especially with survivng guest stars being allowed to do commentaries for blue ray or dvd sets). But WB and Fox are too busy fighting over the whole pie neither will accept getting even just half

I know Adam West taped a bunch of commentary for the episodes, for posterity. A very good idea, he can then name his price for whenever they decide to put them out.

'Course Robert Conrad was interested in doing commentary for the Wild Wild West DVD sets, and the studio turned him down. He probably either wanted too much, or the studio just wanted to get the sets out quickly and cheaply.

I thought FOX did a deal with Warner Bros. last year. There was a dispute for the rights to release the Watchmen film. The courts ruled FOX had the rights to Watchmen-not Warner and some deal was reached where the rights to the 1960's Batman TV show would go back to FOX in exchange. Isn't the ball in FOX's court now?

I thought the bionic shows would never come out on DVD in the US, so I have a glimmer of hope for Batman. But beyond Warner and Fox, there is the Dozier estate to contend with.

The 30 + disc set is much better. 10 disc set has got to be compressed to make the episodes fit. I have the 30 + set and it's freakin' incredible.

On a side note...my friend just gave me all of his VHS tapes from when the series was aired on PIX 11 here in NY...back in the early 90's. I noticed on one tape that 2 episodes were combined to make one 1 hour episode. I haven't watched all of his tapes....but I'm hoping that all the episodes are not like this.

You think dealing with living people is bad? Try dealing with greedy heirs of formerly wealthy people. They just want to squeeze every last dime out of their cash-cow. Most times you have to deal with more than one heir as well, which makes it even worse.
I think it will eventually make it to an official release but by that time will anyone really care?

I have the bootleg disks set and I love them.

Just know, if we do get them, they will be butchered, edited and video distorted. Too many people, too much ego, too much crap.

Never going to happen without something watered down.

                              It's sad.
