My turn to weigh in. I LOVE the Costume, it looks like Cap to me...and I'm not upset about the lack of Wings on the Helmut.

The revised costume looks alot better. I do agree, he needs a wing design of some kind on the sides. Too blank with the rest of the outfit being so heavy on design.

In the 1940's you put wings on your Helmet and you Sir were a fairy.....
I can imagine a scene in the movie.

Bucky Barnes: Say Cap, your Helmet looks blank let me stencil some wings on.

Steve Rogers: Kid, You put wings on my helmet and I'll Kick yourass from here to Timbuktu,
The boys here will rip me apart, Hell Hitler will die laughing.....put the paint down son.....

Worked out okay for the original Flash.

                ....er.... Cap's not real....

....which kinda goes back to my WAY earlier point: why get wrapped around the axle about "realism" in a superhero movie? Trying to real it up opens the door to all sorts of OTHER concerns. Such as with the movie uniform. It'd be durned near unwearable in real life. Those shoulder pads (with the tiedowns around the bicep) would limit arm rotation and be really uncomfortable. And the front web straps would constantly be folding you in half. (Not to mention they're actually cargo tiedowns from a transport truck.) Tights may be silly, but they're iconic, eliminate a lot of the extra questions, and no sillier than the idea of a steroided up supersoldier fighting hordes of Nazis without taking a scratch, and surviving 20 years frozen in ice.

Errrrr Meant if a Real Soldier wore Wings on his hemet in the 1940's his platoon might rip him apart....is what I meant.....

if he painted them on it wouldda been cool. think about the things painted on airplanes in WW2. maybe actual wings as opposed to painted one are stretching it but i am sure painted wings would be cool

I dunno. Guys do all sorts of weird things. I knew a guy had a raccoon skull tied to his, and for a long time I had my scrim organized into a combat mullet. But if you're already got a setting with mutants, and superpowers and giant Nazi robots then little headwings shouldn't be that big a deal. Wings would be morean airforce thing; or maybe Airborne.... but if you want to get technical, Cap probably has his SpecFor qualification so it'd be okay.

Biggest problem with headwings; be they painted or attached would be how much attention it'd attract. ("Hey! That guy must be important! Shoot him first!") But even that's mitigated by the idea that Cap is SUPPOSED to be visible.

It's not as bad is I feared, but I'm nonplussed...

Of course, if we now have to accept movie Batman running around in basically an armored scuba suit, we can accept Cap in this...

Feeling very crotchety about movie superheroes lately. I actually liked how DD was handled in his costuming and think Cap could be done similarly--but those details are important.

They were to Kirby in the '40s, and they should be now.

(And if Red Skull's head ends up looking like a stewed tomato again, I'm really going to be ticked!!!)
