^^^^ Amen, Busiek and Perez had the best Avengers line up. And that was the last time I read the book.

That SHOULD have been the last time I read the book but I was there for Geoff Johns short run if I recall and have been there since Bendis disassembled them....Lots of wasted money IMO. Always hoping it would get better but it never did.

Outside of Dark Avengers, I just personally really haven't cared much for Benis writing or direction, ... that's just me. If you like it, cool ..., That was just the 1st post I think I ever read, or even heard for that matter enjoying his writes to that degree.

I love John Romita Jr.'s stuff, but don't care for the art posted in this thread. I think this is just a case of an inker's style not working with the penciller.

That's cool - different strokes for different folks.

I used to spend a lot of time on the Bendis Board and was reading his stuff before he was at Marvel, so I'm definitely on the other side of that fence. There are a lot of people who like him and his work, and he wouldn't be able to stay on titles so long if nobody was buying, so enough people like what he's doing, even if where you hang online doesn't reflect it.

Of course, even Rob Liefeld - the internet's symbol of everything wrong with the trends of the 90s - has a legion of silent fans who bump up sales of books he guest draws on, so there's definitely no accounting for taste.

                  There's room for everyone.

I can live with those guys if you've got Vision, Scarlet Witch, Cap, Thor, Iron Man, Wonder Man, etc.

As far as this deal with the AVENGERS lineup being "tainted" with
Spidey, Thing, Wolvie etc., I think if they're THAT interested in something like
that, they should have a series with a new team name and stack it with
the creme de la creme of Marvel Heroes.

A team with Spidey, Hulk, Cap, Wolverine, Thing, Iron Man, Storm,
Spider-Woman and She Hulk starring as a team in a new book would raise
a lot of commotion and they wouldn't have to hijack the "AVENGERS" name.

Altho' with the AVENGERS movie being primed, in THAT mindset,
I guess its a good business move to use the name of the movie that all the
other movies are leading up to.

They can always take out the "new" heavy-hitters once the movie is released.
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix

^^^ The problem with these guys on the Avengers...Spidey's a loner, Thing already is on a team, and Wolverine is on 2 or 3 other teams. Also, Wolvie really doesn't play by the same rules the Avengers do. With the amount of characters that Marvel has to pick from to load up the tem, why these already overexposed bunch of guys? Seems like with the Iron Man movie coming out, Black Widow should be there somewhere.

She hasn't been tapped for an Avengers team yet in all this rebooting? I'm surprised since she's all over the place in Marvel mags lately....She even has her own ongoing now.
