    Avengers #1....Ugggh!

I've complained about the new JLA team over at DC so it's only fitting to give equal time to Marvel's Avengers.....

This is crap.....1st, I doubt Romita Jrs. artwork is gonna win over any readers.
2nd, Enough already with Wolverine and Spider-Man as Avengers. And 3rd, Bendis needs to go....

    Just my two cents!

Junior is one of the worst artists I've ever seen. His father in his 70's draws better than he does. Marvel just doesn't get it. They cancel all of the Avengers titles just to re-start it with 5 freakin' new titles...It's a Joke. Enough already with re-starts. Eliminate 4 of those 5 titles and make ONE FREAKIN' AVENGERS title. It's that simple.
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
        The beauty that surrounds them
        Isn't it a pity".

The last time I really remember liking Romita Jr's art was waaaay back during his Spider-Man run that introduced the Hobgoblin.....Nothing great mind you, but passable. He's gotten worse with age. His father however STILL rocks!

Wow. That's just so bad on so many levels.

Spider-Man and Wolverine do not need nor do they deserve to be Avengers. They are supposed to be an elite group whose teamwork and powers compliment each other and used for world protection. These are the guys who fight Celestials, alien invasions and planet conquering demons. Wolvie and Spidey are way out of their element. An Avengers book can stand alone without those two by using established b-list characters, which Marvel has in spades.

Romita is just awful. How does this guy get work? This cover/pinup isn't the worst thing I've seen but it's far from what's needed to usher in a new title of what's supposed to be a flagship book. It looks like Klaus Jansen inked him too, so that's a bust right there as well. He only does well when inking sloppy artists like Frank Miller. This is a major train wreck waiting to happen.

... I suppose I overlooked that , ... his work is just so Blaw to me .., that I don't think he really created the seperation with the 2, with that pic of Cap.

Where does Wolverine find the time to be an X-Men, do solo stuff, X-Force (I think he's still doing that), and be an Avenger? He just doesn't belong on that team.
I like Spider-man better on his own or doing team ups from time to time.

isn't there a Wolverine Corps so there can be a short angry dude on every Marvel team?

pretty sure that the Thing and Spider-Woman are part of the team, too. Why do they need Ben Grimm?? He's already got a day job.

I like these better than the JLA ones.

OK, at this point it's becoming like "Who ISN'T an Avenger?"......Sheesh, guys like Wolverine and The Thing just don't make sense to me when they're icons with OTHER teams. Obviously Bendis just wants to write these guys and Marvel is willing to appease him...I really don't understand the clout he has over at Marvel. Don't get me wrong, he can be a good writer but I think he's been past his prime on the Avengers franchise for quite a while. This relaunch was the chance to break away from that and yet Marvel choose to go with the dude again AND launch 5 Avengers related titles. Like JLA, there should only be ONE book devoted to the team...Nevermind all of this Secret Mighty New stuff.

The Dark Avengers story's were very good imo.
Outside of that, I haven't really liked Benis direction much myself.
