    Sub Mariner Vs Aquaman

Not a literal battle, but which character appeals to you more?

How do you differentiate the characters, particularly since Aquaman has become much more "Savage" like Namor in the past twenty years.

Are they best served as headliners in their own titles or do they work best within a team environment (or in Namor's case, as an antagonist in many titles he guests in).

Why do you think both have trouble sustaining ongoing titles?

Aquaman get's the nod for me... always liked his character as he's never tried to destroy the surface world

100% Namor for me. I love Everett's golden-age stories and Namor's silver-age resurgence. He was a great foil for Mr. Fantastic in his love triangle with Invisible Girl. His mythological look and anti-hero characteristics make him a classic character to me - where as Aquaman was always just kinda silly. Admittedly, I haven't read many Aquaman comics, and mostly know him from cartoons.

I gotta go w/ Aquaman. I've always loved the 60s cartoon. Though Namor's theme song was better.
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

welll namor won the fight in the access comic but as far as they go they are a wash for me it's a debate over b list heroes. neither one has shown the ability to support a book for an extended period. aquaman has alot more mutlitmedia presnece but really how do you give any credibility to s sea king that has to ride a seadoo (in superfriends) or a sea horse instead of swiming

I never cared much for Namor. I respect his place in Marvel's history, but that's about it. It seems Marvel can never get a bead on him as either hero or villain. That's kind of interesting, but not for a leading character.

Aquaman came later, but he's just more appealing. His visual is striking and memorable. The orange and green color scheme WORKS. I bought into at first, but overall, the hook-handed, honked off Aquaman was a bad idea. An indulgence by a writer who should have just went off and made his own character.

It's true, about Namor, but anti-heroes never seem to work long-term as a title character in comics.

Interestingly Wikipedia's Namor entry claims he's the first comicbook superhero anti-hero! I didn't know that - I wonder if that's true.

That's true about Aquaman's look. I mean how many times has Toyfare made fun of Namor for looking like Spock in swim trucks or Robin shorts?

The Sub-Mariner by a mile...never been into Aquaman at all.

I have a place in my heart for anti-heroes.

                  I also love his temperament...kinda like WWE's Randy Orton...lol.

He also kinda looks like Spock...

He's also the slightly older character (debut in 1939, as opposed to Aquaman in 1941)...many people seem to forget this.

                  Besides...in a fight...Namor would turn Aquaman into a pretzel...

God do I love how sharp Toyfare's parodies are. Although I really do wonder how they would skewer the DC heroes if they did have access to them.

That is certainly true in the past. Sea Hunt, Man from Atlantis, Mercy Reef, etc. never had a completely satisfactory approach... even James Cameron couldn't crack it with the Abyss.

Although animation would be the way to do here... imagine a Pixar animated (not going to happen, I know) Aquaman in the vein of Finding Nemo! Complete with Giant Saddled Seahorses and Tusky voiced by Eddie Murphy. 8)

I have to go with Aquaman here....but Subby is a close second. For the most part, I have little use for Marvels characters...but the classic ones like Subby I put in a different category all together.

!?! Not necessarily--temperament, resolve, & strength/endurance being roughly equal, I think telepathy beats finny wings any day. I don't dislike Namor, but...

I'm a huge Aquaman fan, and hope to see his triumphant return to a place of honor in DC. I loved how he was depicted in Justice.

That Arthur would have throttled Namor.
