Chris Evans confirmed for Capt America lead

Not terribly excited about that selection since he has already played the Human Torch. Would have been nice to have someone new to the genre. Hope he can pull it off. Based on this selection and the fact the director is ignoring the storylines from the 60's and 70's (after Cap' is revived from the ice), leaves me less than excited about this project.

YaHoo!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy that they ABSOLUTELY got the RIGHT Man for the job!

Now I can breath a sigh of relief about the casting of Cap.

I am guardedly optimistic. Not overly jazzed, but I think he CAN pull it off. Not a slam-dunk, but then no known actor seemed to totally embody the character in my mind.

They could have picked far worse...like the guy from The Office. We don't need another out-there casting with a comedic actor ala Keaton for Batman (and yes, Keaton did okay, but he was Burton's ideal ONLY).

I'm the same....The Ultimates modernized the Cap WW2 story and The Avengers which I'm sure will make it's way to the movie versions

I think this is pretty good. I read an interview with Alex Ross who said that they should cast Jon Hamm. I think that would have been awesome. I always thought he should be a bit older than everybody else. Oh well, since they are talking about rebooting FF anyways, I don't care if he was the torch. I am more excited about Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull. That is perfect casting in my book. Has anybody heard anything else about Thor?

Doesn't the Human Torch turn into The Vision and not Captain America? Oh yeah, different Human Torch. I don't really like the choice, because he was Johnny Storm, but he'll do a great job!

This is a tough part to cast. You need a guy who can look wimpy before the treatment and then muscular afterward. There's not too many guys out there built like Cap that can act.

Evans is in good shape, but he certainly isn't the body type I think of when I see Cap in my mind's eye. Cap should have more mass.

But neither Routh nor Reeve were as bulky as Superman should be either.

I thought Evans was great as Human Torch. Torch is my least favorite part of the Fantastic Four, and he's actually what I liked best about the films, as others have mentioned.

Evans is a good enough actor to pull this off if the script is well written. Johnston is a solid director. Marvel knows how to produce a good movie. The script is the thing. If it works, the film should be fine.

Not overjoyed but not bummed either with the choice. I realize that they're looking to hook in a younger crowd and this won't be the Cap I grew up with which is disappointing to me but I can see their logic. Just keeping my fingers crossed that it isn't one big letdown.

Would be cool if they put him in the movie, as they did Lou Ferrigno in the Hulk!

I think I saw him at Wal Mart once. He was standing by the door, wearing a little blue vest and saying hello to everybody who came in the store.

Actually, he was in a couple episodes of Hercules in the nineties, so I would assume hes still acting?
