It took me forever to get into the series......never understood the concept of his mouth being all black...I know it was high tech suit but the mouth design just bothered me. I liked when they showed Bruce with the suit on.......and I liked the Cloth action figure that came out during the show and the Ed McGuinness figure.

Kind of disappointed Paul Dini, Bruce Timm and co are not on this one. Paul Levitz for the Annual and then Adam Beechem writes the ongoing.
I was kind of hoping that they would be expanding on the revelations that occurred at the end of JLU.Comment

I like that artwork quite a bit !... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

yeah, I especially love Supes grabbing him by the shoulder like he's getting ready to mount him.You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

Not really, its just the first impression I got from that piece of "art"You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

^^^ Well, I can't say my Mind went there at all ..., The "Point of View" Perspective Obviously has them Looking Somewhere to the Right ..., to where Superman's Hand Jesture is Meant as a , "Hold on a Second" type of Action, I know your Used to Non-Eye's Drawn in on Faces with Quintly's and Mignolia's art, so I can see where some confusion might take Place.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

They both draw eyes. That Batman Beyond art just looks like Ross rip off garbage.

My first impression of that is, "Gee, what a poor choice of costume for Superman, given that we are in the midst of the whole Blackest Night Event.". (Take away the Zombie Head and that is a close representation of Zombie Kal.)
While I appreciate Alex Ross and his talent and the bandwagon of talented artists who are copying his style, I am about sick of the hyper-realistic art that comics has adopted. Why not just hire models, put them in a costume, and take a photograph?Comment

You Never Caught Superman on the Batman Beyond Cartoon Did you ?
& Bolt ..., I am Beyond Done Debating with you, with your Art Interests. It's out there to me ..., and I have absolutely No Idea where your comming from on the Subject.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

Respectfully: Doesn't matter if I did or if I didn't. That was ten years ago.
I have bought almost every issue of the Blackest Night Arc in the last year and that is what comes to mind when I see that. It is a timing thing.
I'm not trying to be contentious....that's just my initial take on it.Last edited by saildog; Mar 20, '10, 7:48 PM.Comment

I enjoyed the series. It struck me as very Spider-Manish, but hey I like Spidey. I'll give the series a shot.
yeah, that cover art does remind me of Alex Ross, which is probably why I like it. The Batman is much stronger than the Superman, but I still like the cover.
One of the great things about comics is the varied styles. I love Sprang's Batman as well as Neal Adams' Ross' and Kelly Jones', Infantino's and Mazzuchelli's.
I also like the fact that DC is embracing the idea that its characters and comic readers can deal with more than one iteration of their classic characters.
There's room for Batman Beyond, the regular continuity Batman as well as Geoff John's upcoming Batman Earth I.Last edited by madmarva; Mar 20, '10, 9:13 PM.Comment

Let me explain my objections to the art. Not to be a butt....this is just an opinion.
My pendulumn swings toward a minimal kind of style and I have made no bones about being a Darwyn Cooke fan. Given his work on the series (it's what gave him his shot to do what he has done), I was looking for something more Cooke and less Ross. This may sell through the roof, but given that it was Batman Beyond, I wanted something more in line with the series.
Hell, for all we know, that work is just a cover and we all know covers are a seperate entity.Comment
