    Hmmmm....

I did a few 15+ years back. About a year ago some of the old crowd tried talking me into doing it again. I don't really want to, since I KNOW it wouldn't go anywhere, and that's a lot of work for my own vanity.... but despite my better judgement I've been working on some stuff, and ran a few test pages at the local print shop:

I think nowadays online is your best bet; using those print on demand places as neccessary. Lets you build up some hype without any real expense. (EVERY self-published cartoonist has crates full of back issues.)

I managed to break even on Shadow Wolf, but it was tough to keep costs down to that point. I had to print the covers at home on my own printer to afford color, and the interior pages were black & white copies, cost us about $150 to print 100 comics which sold for $3.00 cover price, but the comic shops paid $1.50 each for them. We had about 10 stores carrying them, and I sold as many as I could at collectible shows.

It's hard to make any money in comics self-publishing though, I think my next step may be to try and get some film producers interested in the property. The entire story is set up as to where it would be fairly inexpensive to film, most of it takes place in the mountains and woods, not too much needed as far as SFX are concerned, just a few Werewolf transformation scenes.

      Maybe someday. . .

Shadow Wolf looks pretty vicious! I could see that get published.
I like Al Barret. He has a certain Cartoon Network skill to him with his own funky style. I contribute to his pages some time as a guest cover guy. LOL

The world fun photos on webshots
Thanks Al once again! I enjoy working with other people!!

My work is through Mirage Entertainment/Gracie Studios in Wisconsin. We are currently launching and working on a series of videos, music and cartoons. We all have very talented guys working to get our projects off the ground.
Some of my personal comics have been a team of heroes called "The Crusaders" and "Cosmicman".
Unless you don't have anything copyrighted, I would suggest some of you that have good ideas to take them down. You wouldn't believe the vultures that will stumble onto a site like this and take something as their own.

Of course the most powerful "bad guy" in my universe...SATAN. (boy the holy rollers in my town really hate this comic book.)

The fowl mouth...lost alien from the depths of the ocean...

"My band" Fatal Agenda is also featured in our work. This is our drummer Bret

More evil... Genocide...Third world evil sorcerer...

          My most powerful female "STARGAZER"

another "bad guy" my business partner told me something looks "perverted" about his head in this picture. Odd...yes....I know..

Even super heroes need psychiatrist...enter "Doctor Night"

Julie Maret is Electra. Electra is one of the founding members of the infamous super hero team, The Crusaders. She has returned to the team she founded to help organize a new lineup with the help of her fiancee Spacehawk and the one they call, The Brain. Electra can move at super human speeds and has been tracked at moving at least the speed of light when traveling full force. She can channel vast amounts of electrical energy through her body and use it as an offensive weapon. In her secret identity as Julie Maret, she is a mail deliverer for Bradford City.

I am just a photocopier machine if you really want to know.
I don't trace but if I see a nice pose or some kind of super hero, I will draw from it and use the pose to create my characters. I am a free hand drawer but my mind has always been like that. I'd like to break the habit but I have no imagination when it comes to poses. Eventually after awhile, there isn't really no such thing as a copyrighted pose unless your Spidey or Batman.
Al's the man. I would love to be able to wing my own cartoon comics with such speed and fast timing you pump those out. I am more of a "cover man" then I am a comic panel person (as we talked about last night).
BTW. Thanks for the box Al I got it this morning! We'll have a fun time when Fatal Agenda comes to Canada and crashes at your house this year!

Mine's copyrighted anyway, thought it would be a good idea when we printed it. There is some very cool work here in this thread, it's great to see all the different styles on display.

Get a few of the new Microman figures. They're super-posable. Perfect for difficult angles and the like. (Plus, they're jointed in much the same way a figure is sectioned off when drawing.) I got a bunch and use them a lot. (Well.... not for THESE pages exactly, but there IS a big fight in two more pages..... them armoured guys all get beat to death with a lamp.)

Another alternative is Getting the Art S. Buckley figures or as I do the Super jointed Takara Figures. Also you can photograph yourself and friends in poses...

Here is an example of using my Takara figures which are great because they hold the poses for a long time and they don't need Pee Pee breaks....

I got busted in Art School for using GI Joes for action studies. Even Alex Ross doesnt like using figures.

I prefer using SEVERAL references to sculpt by. I usually have the shapes s o memeorized that I can re do them but need someone who is goo at inking !

I have made sevral Art House coloring books. Kinda like Ed Gorey meets teh Muppets stuff.

I want to learn more about cross hatching and really enjoyed doing scratch board as a teen.

But Alex Does use Photographs....tons of them.

There's actually nothing wrong with using Figures I use to have the wooden ones in College and when I was a member of The Art Students league here in NYC but found them boring to use......I will say this EVERY artist should take anatomy lessons it really does help and takes the bugs out of the art......
