I think Roth got a raw deal. I liked him as Superman.

On the flip side, Reeves's (George) Clark was not wimpy enough. Was quite out of character with the comic Clark. Don't get me wrong, I liked it but if we're talking accurate representation then we gotta be honest about it.
Routh was basically "Hey, Reeve is dead. Who can we find that looks exactly like him to play Superman in this new movie?"
I still think Dean Cain is vastly underappreciated. He played a great Clark and Superman. I do think he might have been a tad too short for the role but I'm not aware of his stats.
Probably the best portrayal of Superman was the Fleischer cartoons of the 40's.
The truest to the comics were also the Filmation episodes from the 60's.

I'll give you that one. Reeve's (Christopher) Clark was too wimpy but his Superman was iconic.

Fleischer's superman with a stronger clark was a reflection of the time when Clark was becoming more manly (the war era made that happen) and that bleeds into the stronger Clark of George Reeves.
Chris reeves clark was more the 38-41 wimpy milquetoast clark (probably becuase the Puzzo or Mankiewitz weren't up on the 70's era clark who was a go getter just not physically - and 70's Clark was not a fainter)Comment
