He's having his turn now. The next movie needs to remove itself from any previous incarnation and make a new statement, no more 70's nostalgia trips and no more of the Smallville cast.
Agreed
"...The agony of my soul found vent in one loud, long and final scream of despair..." - Edgar Allan Poe
Oh God enough talk about Welling his time has come and is just about gone and too bad about Roth he got shafted......Cast Superman like he can go through a Brick wall NOT like a pretty boy crap GET A MAN's MAN to play him......
It would be cool if they could find somebody more in the George Reeves mold who could pull off the Clark/Supes roles equally well and look like he's having fun smashing thru walls, crushing tommy guns and clunking thug noggins together.
Kinda troubling that they HAVE to throw Luthor into the mix. Again. That, and:
>Modern. Believable. FUN!"
The "believable" part worries me, 'cos it almost forshadows boggling executive changes. So; he's in tights, he's an alien that's similar to a human, he can lift the sun, and he flies.... but in a BELIEVABLE way?
ummm, Dean Cain is second on my unfavorite Supermen right after Welling and right before wimpy Chris Reeve.
I wasn't seriously considering him. I just think he's the closest of any of the Supermen to George Reeves Superman.
I like Welling as Clark but for some reason I have a hard time picturing him in the tights.
Not sure how you can hate on Chris Reeve. He WAS Superman. He played him perfectly for the Superman of that era.
I say hire another unknown for the role. Surely somewhere on this earth is an actor around 30-ish, tall and built who can pull this off. Routh was a good Supes, but his performance will always be equated with Singer's syrupy melodramatic film regardless of his quality work. They need to break away from Reeves/Reeve worship and forget Smallville was ever made. Forget the name Richard Donner, Dean Cain and that talentless guy who played Superboy.
I welcome this film if they can do something new.
Scott
Which talentless superboy there were 2 in one short lived show the is debate is over who was worse
I for one do not look forward to a Byrne inspired film as it means another evil business man lex which really is basically inspired by the film hackman performance
I have been waiting for 30 years for Evil scientist lex and I am still waiting
I just think he's the closest of any of the Supermen to George Reeves Superman.
Rich
Oh Hell No!!!!!! Cain can't Hold a candle to Reeves who was the Iconic Superman to a generation of Kids..........Cain was is and shall always be a wimpy turd actor.
