No offense Hec, but that's not a good argument for any TV actor. Steve McQueen, Clint Eastwood, Bruce Willis, etc, etc...all TV actors first, big box office draws later. I'm not saying Welling will ever be that, but he has just as much chance as anyone.

I think Welling could do it. I've never heard the "won't wear tights" thing confirmed. Maybe it was and I missed it, but Welling is notoriously media shy. He doesn't give interviews, and stays out of the spotlight.

I'm not sure WB would be willing to connect the franchise they are trying to revive to a TV product. It make sense to Smallville fans, but the general public who knows something of Smallville but doesn't follow it may be put off from seeing a new Superman film that apparently spins out of the series, even if Welling is the only crossover.

Oh, and as much as I like George, Chris Reeve could use one of his spongy muscles for his jock strap.

I don't hate Welling but I honestly think he has zero chance of ever playing big screen Superman unless they make a Smallville movie. It would be very unlikely that Warner would want to blur the lines between the two.

Welling may become a movie star but he won't be Superman IMO.
