After much deliberation, and begging on my 7-year old's part, I let him watch it with me last year (he's 8 now). I warned him of the potentially disturbing part, and we did flip past that part where the Batman imitator's body slams against the window. It makes you jump, and is probably the most gruesome scene in the movie.

He didn't suffer from any ill effects, but he has watched all the animated series, I've read him the comics, and Dark Knight doesn't really amp stuff up much from there, it's just in live-action.

I actually have more of a problem with Burton's Batman films. Batman murders criminals, and Joker's homicidal sprees are played for laughs. He electrocutes a man and then has a humorous conversation with him for several minutes. I didn't think about all of this until after I let me son watch it. He was quite disturbed by Nicholson's Joker as well.

In the Dark Knight, Batman sticks to his moral code from the comics, and the Joker's acts are shown to be heinous and disturbing, as they should be.

But, it varies by the kid. I have a nephew who is just a year younger than my son, but I still wouldn't let him watch it. He is much more tender-hearted and easily disturbed.

Yup that was the original Rating it got because of the extreme violence and Blood......I think from what I remember the movie was edited about 11 times before it got an R rating......It was released on Dvd a special anniversary version but it's not rated.

Interseting note that Batman isnt even in the title.

I agree the most disturbing scene was the imiator body. Harvey Dents Two Face was really gruesome too.

I think the difference i see between Tim Burton and the Dark Knight is Dark Knight trys to make Batman seem as realistic as possible , and explains everything away right down to his ears.

Tim Burton was more of an over the top feel. Ridiculous.

Honestly Devito scared me more than Nicolson.

But Nicolson shooting Bob for no reason was harsh.

Yeah I remember a lot of folks were upset about Machine guns on th ebatmobile and Batwing back then.

            " smurf weiner" heh.

I'll probably never watch it myself so no chance the boys will. They wouldn't like it anway. They don't like the figures because they look wrong.
