Who would be more buff? Batman or Superman?

So this is my though process:

Superman doesn't have to be buff to wield the kind of strength he does. His muscle fibers would be like steel cable. Batman, on the other hand, would have to be pretty buff to wield the kind of strength he does. So, BATMAN IS THE BUFFEST.

    but...

Superman is a pretty big guy and even though he doesn't have to be to be really strong, he does fill out a leotard, where a severe muscle bulk wouldn't serve Batman all that much, as he is more about skill and fighting technique that just brute force. So, SUPERMAN IS THE BUFFEST.

    Thoughts?

P.S: I used "buff" alot. Ungh.

I hate it when artists draw Batman as some hulked out vein popping steriod induced nightmare. Batman is like a martial artist mixed with a gymnast. He needs to be agile looking not hulked out and bloated. He shouldn't be any bigger than what Neal Adams drew him. Batman should look like an olympic gymnast not a giant grotesque steriod freak that looks like he is about to burst.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Neither. Superman has powers. Batman couldnt be an acrobat if he was as big as Lou Ferrigno. Beside Batmans fights smarter not harder.

Spiderman shouldnt be. ( again powers) Iron man no, Green Lantern No, Thor No( God)

I guess the only one I can think of would be Captain America because of the Super Steroids. " A Walking example of better living through drug use" the Avengers mechanic called him once.

      Punisher? Yeah.

      WOlverine?

I dont know. If Logan spent six months on his couch watching TV, drinking beer and eating pizza would his healing factor fix that?

I think of Superman as more "Barrel Chested" than Batman.

I always thought Curt Swan had the proper proportions.

        Byrne's seemed to bulky.

Aparo's Batman looks about right to me for a guy swinging around the city and sword fighting with Ras Al Ghul.

As much as I dig Jim Lee, I think his Batman should be leaner. Nightwing is spot on... acrobat/gymnast proportions.

Jim Lee and Tim Sale draw Bats way to big. Dave Mazuchelli got Bats right and so did Paul Pope in the build department.

Both Supes and Bats should have athletic bodies...not roided out monsters...leave that look to the Hulk.

While not as tall, I'd say Batman would be built more like a professional basketball player — graceful yet powerful. Guys don't have to be bulky to be strong.

Superman would have more mass, though. He would make an average size guy feel small rather than average.

Maybe not. He gets his power from his alien physiology. It'd be possible for him to be as strong without being built. Maybe he got big from exercising, working hard on the farm, etc.... but even then; would that cause enough stress for him to develop at all?

I have the same Philosophy as Alex Ross has with his Superman. He should be muscled but NOT look like a Body builder. Otherwise Clark has a lot of explaining

Batman too Lean muscled and Agile none of this roided look.......

No that's later Swan Supes pictured...the DC Direct Showcase figure ( I think that's the one you're talking about) is more of the 60s Swan Superman look.
And I think the above picture may have been inked by Dave Hunt? I don't think it's Murphy Anderson. That can make a difference too.
