When comparing Superhero bodies, I like to compare them to life models...

Let's compare to the real world's tights wearing community: Wrestlers.

Superman would have a John Cena body. Muscular, but not body builder chiseled. Big and perfect for exchanging punches.

Batman would have more of a Randy Orton body. Again, muscular, but much smaller and built for quick attacks.

Green Arrow would be a Chris Jericho. Athletic enough for movement, but no real need to be built like a tank when you're using a bow and arrow.

Wonder Woman is a Beth Phoenix
    PowerGirl is a Chyna (bulkier)

Aquaman would be a John Morrison

    etc, etc, etc....

It's pretty tame, compared to the comments I've read around here about female bodies.

While I can't help but picture Supes a little bulkier than Batman, I think they should both have somewhat realistic proportions(a relative term in comics). Both have secret identies that would be much more obvious if their muscles were too obviously bulging. Of the two, Bruce Wayne could almost get away with it, because he's rich and can theoretically afford long days at the gym with a trainer. Maybe Clark can draw attention away from his body due to his awkwardness(if he still does that - I don't really read modern Superman comics). After all, if the people of Metropolis don't notice Supes behind the glasses, maybe they wouldn't recognize the muscles under his work clothes.

Christian Bale is actually built the way Batman should be. Very much the Adams/Aparo/Garcia Lopez type lean, muscular build. Superman should be built a bit larger, more barrel-chested, broader shoulders, taller. By the majority of Superman II and all of III, Chris Reeve was built just about right. Maybe a little bulkier, but not much.

Tom Welling is actually built pretty good for Supes. Cut, but not body-builder big.

I would think that due to his alien physic Superman would be more buff. Batman would not be far behind though.

But Randy Orton is taller than John Cena...

I think John Cena fits Captain America better...and Randy Orton as the Sub-Mariner.

Come to think on it...Randy Orton could play just about everybody, Batman, Superman, Sub-Mariner, Silver Surfer, Captain America, etc...

              I like your wrestler/superhero comparisons though...pretty good.

How about Ray Mysterio or Evan Bourne as Spider-Man?

              Triple H as Thor?

I don't really want to see any pro wrestlers playing the big superheroes.

I have often thought about this becuse really there is no reason Clarks should "look" powerful based on his alien physiology he would need to lift a mountain to get a work out.

wrestlers are too bulky in my opinion since they build mass for show muscle boxers or even MMA guys have more usful muscle

for batman I always thought he should be built more like Bruce lee. He was tremendously powerful but lean muscle not mass. Martial artists tend to be leaner since the bulk muscle tends to reduce the speed. (aparo or adams)

Superman should be more like Ali or Foremen in their primes. (curet Swan or Alex toth)

If not Bruce Lee,Batman should have a look like Chuck Norris.
