I Liked the Catwoman 1.... quite a bit myself...,
Didn't care much for the Starman book ..., it followed Cosmic Rod Black Lantern Porno Starman, fighting a Newly good Version of Shade Who's ***** whipped.. ..., No Starman from Cry for Justice even present.

    The only 1's I haven't read are Atom/Hawkman and Question ..
... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

The Mikaal Tomas Starman (the blue-skinned cry from JLA:CFJ) was never the "star" of Starman....it was always Jack Knight. But since James Robinson seems to still have a moratorium on Jack Knight himself that's probably why Shade faced off with Jack's dead father.

Even though I haven't been impressed with Robinson's recent return to the DCU I still have high hopes for this issue being a nice supplement to the original series.

I forgot about The Question.....Denny O'Neil is one of the writers so hopefully it has a nice feel like the original series.

Wasn't it Jack's BROTHER David they were fighting?

Not so much a supplement to the original series as a supplement to the Shade miniseries and team-ups in Showcase Presents. Jack's only mentioned by David and Shade as they fight. It's a Shade story all the way.

This is more like a "Talking with Mean Angry Zombie David" issue of Starman.

Come to think of it, Ted is conspicuously absent. You'd think he would be giving the JSA a hard time if he's not in Starman. I'm assuming there is an untold story here with Jack and Ted since both are offscreen for this crossover.

Robinson managed to handle the death of Ted, and Jack's dealing with it, very well, and more realistically than any other comic treatment I've read. My mother passed away around the same time, so those particular issues meant a lot to me.

I hate to think of Jack having to deal with a zomibified father trying to rip his heart out. Some things are better left untold.

Maybe Robinson didn't want to tread on his own hallowed ground by raising Ted from the dead.....

Taken alone most of the Blackest Night tie-in issues were at the worst OK and some very good, but to unload all of them at once on the heels of a couple Blackest Night minis and along with several others was overkill to me.

By the way, GL 50 was good, but was more setup for the Paralax-Spectre fight than story. There was some good characterization particularly of Hal and Carol and the Scarecrow is just freaky.

Like Black Knight I prefer Reis to Mahnke on the art but that's just more of a style preference on my part than a critique of Mahnke's work.

It'll be interesting what Johns comes up with for the Spectre. Since rebirth it's all but been forgotten that Hal was the Spectre. I think it was mentioned in passing with Hal saying he didn't remember much in one issue.

I just hope this is the last time we see Hal possessed Paralax or any of the GLs — Kyle in the Sinestro War. Let the GLs fight Paralax but not be him.

I'd be interested in seeing Parallax move into one of the yellow lanterns (like Ion in Rayner or Sodom Yat) and become a more permanent threat in the midst of this new color alliance of "New Guardians". Johns really seems to be setting up an interesting scenario here with all these characters having to learn how to work with each other rather than constantly being at each other's throats (we've already seen the Sinestro War).
