    *Crickets* Tumbleweed.

Has no one read this yet?!

Doug Mahnke is now officially my new favourite Green Lantern artist. The stuff he has to draw this issue is mindblowing.

I dunno...a lot of this Blackest Night stuff is starting to reek of stunt to me now. It's going on just a bit long...don't get me wrong, it's been the best of the recent events from the Big Two (IMHO), but things like this make me think it's just grandstanding for cash now.
Why unleash another menace you can't control in the midst of all this chaos? I've a feeling that Parallax will be "put down" quickly after his use is done, thereby negating the menace he was to Hal originally.
This is what I find wrong with these events now. They start making money, so editorial just keeps piling on issue after issue. Now granted, some of the crossovers and mini-series have been good (BN Flash, Atom & Hawkman, Phantom Stranger), some have been mediocre (BN Superman, Batman), but others are just red sky filler (BN Wonder Woman, Suicide Squad, Weird Western). DC should have learned from how good The Sinestro War worked out- short, sweet, contained.
I'm ready for this to windup at this point.

^ I agree..feel like I'm being milked and some of the quality of the adjunct titles is starting to suffer....Sorta why I'm hesitant about the 26 week Brightest Day follow-up. Hopefully they'll keep it to the 26 issues without any unnecessary spill-over.

I'm waiting for all this Blackest Night stuff to wrap up. The idea was cool, now end it and move on.
I have been following the Blackest Night books (picked up one or two) but the Hal Jordan/Green Lantern books which are on my list I do get and I do see some of the storyline. Ho-hum.

I had high hopes for Weird Western because I like all of those old guys but I should have known better.....the script was by Dan DiDio. And the artwork was too modern for my taste. They should have got an old-school artist that would have better fit the title...perhaps Tony DeZuniga.

I'm in agreement with that. At least the Sinestro Corps arc was self contained to the Green Lantern titles and some one-shots for the most part. After the unexpected success of that, I gather they decided to up the ante for Blackest Night.

I'd prefer the action get contained into the Blackest Night Mini and the GL titles. Many of these tie in miniseries seem overdrawn and superfluous in that red skies Crisis kind of way. Most of them following the Dead Loved One comes back to creep out Living Characters but ultimately help them to come to terms with their unresolved issues formula.

Although you do get the gems like the Starman issue, which seems to be setting up a Shade story more than anything else.

Blackest Night and the two Green Lantern books have been great. But the other tie-ins in the regular titles — some good, some not so good — have made the event tiresome because really once you see one hero fight one zombie lantern it's about the same and really wears down the concept.

Did we really need to see doom patrol fighting zombie lanterns? That issue probably sold more copies than any other issue or maybe all issues combined of the title but it really didn't help move along with the story. Just an interruption.

I don't think I bought any titles I normally wouldn't have with the event. but the last month where about 75 percent of the DCU books are part of the event has worn me down.

To me the most interesting concept Johns is working isn't the Black Lanterns; it's the color corps. I would rather see a war amongst the varying corps than zombie lanterns attack heroes.

The first two issues of Blackest Night were great. Johns made them scary and really had them attacking the soft tissue of various characters, but as other writers got involved and we see the same trick over and over, it's really got watered down.

Hopefully the final six issues (2 Gls, 2 GL Corps and 2 Blackest Nights) will be great and then we can move on.

Kind of makes me appreciative that Seige is done in four. Even with all the other books it's drawing in, that is at least half the amount of Blackest Night.

And I don't envy the editorial staff for DC's collected editions. Given the way the continuity of all the tie ins hinge on stuff happening in multiple titles, I can't imagine how they can collect these in any kind of sensical manner other than chronologically like the Seven Soldiers trades, and I thought those didn't quite work as well unless you really wanted to devote the effort and attention span into it.

I'm pretty Confident that Blackest Night is a Far Greater Book than Seige too .

You are right about that. Just ranting about superfluous tie ins that feel like they are taking me and my $$$ for a ride. Sticking to the core titles on Blackest Night from now on.

Looking through a few of the resurrected titles now I gotta say....they sucked.

Weird Western Tales: ok script, horrible art

Catwoman: great Adam Hughes cover, that's about it

Power of Shazam: great Jerry Ordway cover, but the rest was about Osiris and had nothing to do with the Marvel Family

Suicide Squad: ok but it would have been cool to have Luke McDonnell do the art

I have yet to read Atom/Hawkman or Starman and I'm suspecting those are the best of the bunch

It really didn't feel like the titles were being resurrected from where they left off....
