Look...I'm not saying kids should have Batman taken away from them.

However...there's room for both a child-friendly version of Bats...and a more adult-oriented one for grownups...no reason not to.

    There's room for both versions.

I'm late to the party on this one. Levitt would be a good choice for Joker, but I hope they keep him out for at least another movie. And I have kids, but there's plenty of Batman to go around. They can watch any number of other kid friendly incarnations. Just make the movies good.

I'm sure they will survive fine without the Dark Knight movies.
Yeah, I don't think kids these days aren't missing out on much.

There is a kid friendly Batman in the form of the Brave and Bold cartoon right now.

You guys may not realize this but Gordon-Leavitt was the youngest alien/son in the sitcom 3rd Rock From The Sun. Tho he was much younger then.

It was reported Heath Ledger was contracted for 2 films. That pretty much sews it up that the Joker was suppossed to be in the 3rd flick. It all depends on what Nolan thinks can be done in the next film. The next sequel will unlikely make the money that TDK made. There's just no way. That gross was way over-inflated by the fact that Ledger died + it was a new interpetation of the Joker. They can use Gordon-Leavitt, he can do a good job, but I don't think the next Batman film will be quite the 800 lb. ZGorilla the sudio would like it to be.

I also must add this. I give Heath Ledger due credit for his preformance but I don't think an actor has to go so far or push the envelope as to die for his art. Ledger was very talented and had a great career ahead of him. I think maybe he took the job too seriously-got too into the role as it disturbed him and caused him to lose a lot of sleep. It was a great preformance but he should not have had to die for it.

I think some press outlets overdid that angle. I'm not sure I believe he was so disturbed by his role that it led to his death. It makes for good copy though.

That pic of Nicholson is funny. But rude. Jack did alright with the role. It worked for it's time.
