Rumors are that Joseph Gordon-Levitt could be the next Joker
If the Joker is important to the sequel, he should be in there. The show must go on IMO.
Agreed.
And while I'd love to see Man-Bat or Killer Croc in a Batman movie I can't see them in a Nolan Batman movie. They haven't done any dramatic CGI villains so far, so I don't think they'll start now. I think Nolan wants to keep it more realistic

I agree with you on Batman staying for kids. I liked Dark Knight and all, but I was really tormented by seeing the dark direction they have taken the franchise as a whole. We took away the comic from kids, and now the movies. Pretty soon, someone will do a Batman cartoon thats too tough for kids as well and the transformation will be complete.
You can't have a Batman movie without violence, excessive violence either, so no parent would let their kid see it anyway

Part of me regretted DK being too dark for the kiddies, but it did harken back to the original material being very dark, and was certainly in line with the Batman comics of the last 30 years. Oddly enough, although the stories are "darker", their Batman seems more sane and compassionate. I appreciate Nolan and company sticking to Batman's vow to not kill. Keaton put a bomb down someone's pants after all!!!
Didnt like Dark Knight. Maybe Batman should belong to children and we can have our V for Vendetta and Rorscah dark heroes.
Agreed, I also didn't like the Dark Knight. It was way too dark for children even though it was heavily merchandised towards them. I often hear people complain alot about "What's the matter with kids these days?" for one thing, we are chipping away at their childhoods. Childhood staples like Batman and superheroes are being taken away from them.

Yeah...maybe they should hire Joel Schumacher for the next Batman Movie. Because that's what WB told him to do at the time...make it "Kid Friendly".
When conversations like this come up, inevitably someone throws Schumacher in our faces. It's a weak argument. He made the Batman films campy, flamboyant and garish. Not kid friendly. Now, the Bruce Timm Batman the Animated series was kid friendly and still absolutely brilliant.

Thats a Great Statement.
I guess I had never really took in BTAS As completely "Kid Friendly" .. It had it's Dark Moments too .., and Towards the End,.. really Bad with the Joker. My Son was Terrified of the Joker for a few Yrs,.. Because of that Toon..., and took him a Bit to even get over it.
With that Being Said.. Being a 34 yr old Life time Batman Fan ,.. Dark Night Was the Best comicbook Batman Movie Ever,.. and if they give us more of the Same with the 3rd ..., Keep it Dark.
... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

Then let the Kids watch "Batman the Animated series"...and leave the Movies for us Adult Batman Fans. The DVD Box sets are quite cheap now.
I don't give a bloody damn about the kids...I don't have any...I don't want any...and I don't want them anywhere near me...I'm allergic to the little suckers...lol.

I don't begrudge you your opinion, but I feel that's unfortunate. If many people had the "To heck with kids, superheroes are for adults!" atitude when we were kids, we wouldn't now have the fondness or nostalgia for the heroes and toys we grew up with.
I don't have kids either but I'd still like kids today to be able to experience the same fun, joy and excitement I had growing up with the characters.

Exactly.
Kids have EVERYTHING already....Dragon Z Ball, Playstation, Wii. X-Box, Smurfs, Ronald McDonald, Walt Disney, Disney World, Pixar, Dreamworks, Toys R Us, Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, Hannah Montana, The Jonas Brothers, Christmas, Halloween, and on, and on, and on...
I'm sure they will survive fine without the Dark Knight movies.
