My initial response would be the Joker. After thinking about this let's not forget all the plots that the Green Goblin haw been behind. I think hobby is more demented as far as coming up with elaborate plots pulling the strings. I like them both.

Hands down the Joker. Goblin/Osborn always has a reason (no mater how twisted) for killing. Joker doesn't need a reason.Comment

I say the Green Goblin is more demented! The joker is funny colored because of chemical exposure. He wears a funny colored suit. Norman has a whole second side! He chooses to dress up in a costume like a goblin. He made a personal flight device. Joker is an ****** who is after revenge for being turned into the funny colored guy. The Goblin started before he hated Spidey. I say dressing up like a green fictional being and flying around New York is way more demented... Just my opinion, try no to hate me all you Joker lovers.
Thanks to Alan Moores little story I won't have anything to do with the comic book Joker. Batman might not kill but Gordon should have shot him dead at the end of No Mans Land. ESPECIALLY gordon of all people.
I think the SIlver Age Collection Hasbro Joker is one of teh best figures ever made but I it bothered me so much I dint even bother to sell it. I threw it away.
Congradulations Alan Moore. You did write the best Joker Story ever. So effective I will probably be disgusted by the character forever.Comment

It's good, but not sure if it's the best.....I still think the Steve Englehart/Marshall Rogers two-part "Laughing Fish" story is the best of the modern Joker stories, along with the Denny O'Neil/Neal Adams "Joker's 5-Way Revenge". Those set the tone for the modern incarnation of the Clown Prince of Crime.Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

I would also agree the Joker.
As was already stated, the Green Goblin usually has some motive behind what he does as twisted as it may be. The Joker on the other hand doesn't have motives many times, he simply kills randomly for no apparent reason.
Also the Green Goblin does have an alter ego who can be somewhat normal at times. The Joker is always mad."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

The Green Goblin is a separate identity like a split personality. Norman isn't demented, the Green Goblin is. You have to be crazy to fly around the city on a bat shaped jet glider.Comment

I'm on a whole "kidz first" kick, so please...pardon the interruption.
How sad is the state of comics when have to argue, "who is the most demented?" angle? It just accentuates the whole "comics are off limits to kids" thing that is going on.
I'm sorry. I've followed the progression over the years. I fully realize why I can appreciate the argument, but at 41, I have to wonder why the mainstream is still writing toward my tastes. Our segment of the population is getting older and fatter, yet we are as relevant as ever and comics tend to reflect a narrowing of the audience.
Small thinking. Eating boloney while believing it is steak.
Screw that.Comment

yeah gotta go with clemso and skip out both joker and green goblin and go with Carnage.
really I think Green Goblin has a deeper demented side ... he's Norman, and with that human side to him, he really knows how to hurt people, and not just random acts of violence.
The Joker is a guy that if you saw walking down the street you'd move to the other side to say the least, you'd advoid him without even knowing him, which cuts off the deeper more of a friendship feelings a person could have for him ... and I doubt he's able to really know true human feelings. He just will laugh with you one minuet and shoot you in the head the next.Comment
