    I can't believe I didn't mention this, it's a work of art.

Oh boy, that's a hard call.
Of course I loves my Supes but I'm still a little peeved about the liberties they took with Superman's origin at the time (Krypton ice world, "star"-ship for Kal, Ma Kent doesn't die, no Superboy, etc).
If you said pre-1989 of course I'd go with a Superman movie but that Batman movie was AWESOME when it came out and it's still the best of the bunch...INCLUDING the newer ones.
I'm going to have to call Superman: The Movie and Batman (89) a wash and go with

        Superman II

I loves me some "Kneel before Zod!"

Superman gets my vote. It has one of the greatest tag lines of all time. I mean everyone knows "You will believe a man can fly."

Popeye - very underrated in my opinion. Actually made a huge effort to adapt from the comic and not the cartoon - which is great.

Superman - Donner and Mario Puzo did an amazing job of making the comic come alive while keeping things classy.

Barbarella - may not be classy, but it's a lot of fun!

Darkman - not really based on one specific comic - but for me it counts.

Swamp Thing and Return of Swamp Thing - don't ask my why, I have a real soft spot for these two dumb movies.

Gotta go with Superman. Just watched it recently and it still holds up well. The Donner cut of Superman Two is THE offical version for me now. The original pales to the new cut and it's not even a finished movie.

Loved Batman '89 at the time but it has not aged as well to me.

Flash Gordon would fall under guilty pleasures. Watched many times over the years but can't say it's a great movie. It just sucks me in somehow.

Superman and Superman II (loved them. My custom Mego Zod is based on the Superman II movie. Terrance Stamp was the best!)

Superman III sucked balls and Superman IV was a joke!!

The Michael Keaton Batman movies were not bad but that is about it.

With the way CGI is, we can have good superheroes movies now. (Hopefully)

Adventures of Captain Marvel serial still holds up and is great fun.
Spy Smasher serial. You can't go wrong with a costumed hero beating up Nazis.
Danger Diabolik. Besides being a cool movie the soundtrack is amazing.

I'm surprised how many folks have seen this! It does a good job of capturing the freaky 60's art from the book. (Say; has there ever been a Kriminal movie?)

A lot of folks are saying the Superman movie.... but I kinda digress. Supes was good, but Lex was really REALLY wrong. (So.... he's got sidekicks now? AND hair? AND he's GENE HACKMAN?!?!? Hell, Gene Wilder would be more menacing!)

Mario Bava's 5 dolls for an august moon had an incredible soundtrack too.

The handling of Lex was the one part of Superman I would change. Everything else was so dead-on it doesn't bother me though.
