Is Valeria Richards aging waaaay too fast?

It appears she's caught up to Franklin! Depending on how closely we want to guesstimate that "4 1/2" t-shirt he wore during the eighties, he should be at least that much older than her!

Even taking into account Marvel time and the fact that her official "birth" was post Secret Wars in the eighties, even if she is a genius level 3-4 year old, Franklin should be 8-9 in relation to her.

Christ. If we were going real time. Franklin would be about thirty-nine/ fortyish now and Valerie would be about twenty one now. LOL

Maybe his growth was stunted when Doom sent him to Hell?

I don't really care. The relationship between the two is one of the most fun things about the book right now.

              Hmmmm....

Ever notice the kids are getting older, but the PARENTS aren't....?

Maybe it's a cloning thing; like the Venture Bros.

I am no where close to caught up enough to understand. She time travels, no? Could that have something to do with it?

I really dislike that drawing, especially Franklin's face - and the fact that he is referring to her as Invisible Woman really bothers me.

That is true. It seems Franklin's character really does become more defined when you have him interacting with other kids. I think the last time he was this compelling was when he was in Power Pack and interacting with Katie Power.

I do really enjoy the Franklin and Valeria dynamic, but I think the heart of those Miller issues that revealed her genius was the fact that he was the older brother coming to terms with a "gifted" sibling. Remember his wish that he could have powers just like the rest of his family? (of course we know what happens any time his latent mutant powers have manifested in the past... setup for a storyline?)

That is true. They have both been walking time Paradoxes with adult versions hanging out in the past.

Quicksilver and Crystal's kid seems to have caught up to Franklin as well. Despite being born during that period in the early eighties where he was wearing that 4 1/2 t-shirt.

And which of the Power Pack kids is running around as almost fully grown up now with that Excelsior supergroup that showed up in Runaways?

                          That's so insane!

To be honest I didn't even know 100% for sure until you posted this stuff that Marvel universe was picking back up with volume 1's continuity.

When Lee/Kirby/Ditko was around all the characters were all sort of aging - then Ditko and Kirby left and that concept was in limbo until around the time Chris Claremont and John Byrne hit their stride - then the aging thing sort of started again until they left X-men and FF and the whole thing went to limbo again. I guess Mcfarlane aged Spidey somewhat, but I really don't know for sure because I was out of it by then. I thought the Heroes Reborn thing happened and everyone got rebooted. I vaguely knew from glancing at new issues that things were kind of like they were in Volume 1 days, (the new issue numbering has always confused me) now I have no idea what's going on!

What is going on in this cover? What's Quicksilver holding - is it a melted snowball?

Don't worry, other than Warren Ellis playing around with the Vertigo side of the Marvel U, Peter David's Hulk and Spiderman 2099, and Jim Lee's art on X-Men, I tend to try and forget the nineties at Marvel. More exciting stuff was happening at DC during that period IMHO.

Basically, anyone who was a teenager in the eighties is now a young adult. Kitty Pryde went to college a few years back. Rogue of course looked middle aged when she was first introduced before Claremont reformed her and decided she was a late teenager (which is probably where Colossus was if you don't want to make his relationship with Kitty too creepy). All the New Mutants and New Warriors would be in their early twenties, with perhaps the youngest ones like Speedball/Penance, Wolfesbane, and Rage either 19 or 20 which makes them college aged.

Julie Power's reported age in Loners is 17, versus 10 when she was first introduced in the early eighties. Which kind of jives if Luna is 6. Valeria is 5 and Franklin is 10.

Spiderman, Johnny Storm and Ice Man would be about thirty given the fact that Peter Parker was still a grad student in the late seventies/early eighties.

So 16 years Marvel time since Peter got bitten at the age of 14 (was that the number Millar gave Peter when he 'outed' himself during Civil War?).
