I found a guy at a flea market last summer selling really nice copies of mid-70's regular-size books (not digests) for $1 each. I snapped them up and read them all.
I especially like the ones from the early 70's. Right around the 15-25 cent cover price era, give or take. They always had them dressed in all the mod fashions of the time.
Also when I was a kid the local drug store (I lived in a small village) was the only close place that carried the Archie digests but they usually only got 1 or 2 copies of each one. A friend and I were Archie rivals and would run to the drug store on the delivery day and try to be the first to snag the latest Archie digest off the rack and then proceed to brag to the other about who got the latest issue first (or at all in some cases).
I still have a huge stack of those Archie digests.

HAW! Archie is my favourite example of non-superheroes not getting any props from the comic book crowd. (Especially since they now outsell the superheroes. Take THAT; Batman!) I have a reason for that.... but maybe I'll post it in another thread.

As for Christmas books; that Titans one is a good one. I thought the black and white art in the compilation book looked a LOT better than it did coloured. (Cadry did some good, detail-obsessed stuff that got muddied by the cheap colour reproing of the day.) There's also a Judge Dredd Christmas story that I liked: the one where you find out MegaCity 1 has upped their wall defenses to catch the sleigh-riding fatman who invades every year.

I enjoy the Archie Christmas books as well, but the all-time best is the DC Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer annual issues by Shelly Mayer. As well as Santa Claus Funnies by Walt Kelly.
Christmas comics is a category I collect, so I look for Christmas-theme comics all year long, then save them up to read once the tree & lights go up. Kind of a tradition, a way to enjoy some of the fun from when I was a kid.
The Archie stuff is easiest to find, but some of the early issues go a bit pricey. And surprisingly selling higher is all that Dennis the Menace Christmas books. Best time to buy them is at flea markets during the summer when no one cares as much about the holidays. Now the price is 2-3 times what you'd pay in July.

I think they put out 3 or 4 Archie titles every year for a few decades, same with Dennis. There is a really nice Archie Christmas Stories trade paperback out there that you can probably find pretty cheap.

This one is hands down my favourite, between the Deadman/Kara story and the moody Chadwick Superman.

Does John Byrne's Enemy Ace story appear in this issue as well?

Yep, the Silent Enemy Ace story by Byrne and inked by Andy Kubert (or is it Adam?) is in that one too. The Dave Gibbons/Gray Morrow Batman story is nice too, and a precursor to the coming of Tim Drake as Robin the following year.
