Well ep 3 is John Stewart's origin. It's good. Guy was not in it so the clip is later down the road.

This show continues to surprise. John's back story was far more intense than I ever expected, but very well done. I honestly don't know who to root for at this point. Both Hal and John have some serious issues! But in a good way. Compelling stuff.

Just watched #3. John's mother was nuts. In the comics, John was an architect, in the show, he's an artist. They're using elements from Kyle Rayner. Am enjoying the show. Still hope they can work in Alan Scott in future seasons.

Well thanks to Lanterns DC Comics mini-series Millennium seems to become relevant again... Now I need to go back and reread that box (mini-series and crossovers). 2951023-ad-millennium-main.jpg

That was my favorite post Crisis mini and crossover. Written by the man who connected the Manhunters to the Green Lanterns, Steve Engelhart, and drawn by Joe Staton. Reading the issue of Secret Origins that came out at the time, detailing the history of the Manhunters is also a must. The series that spun out of it, New Guardians, unfortunately stunk.

Tonight's episode was the last in season 1 of the Lanterns.

BF: "I liked it and now we have two Green Lanterns in the next movie.
(He hasn't watched as much nerd TV as I have nor read that much)

Me: From a guy who watched the first live action GL/Sinestro (78) it's a different take on the GL Corps. This also means there can be stories told with Hal Jordan in the past along with new stories with John Stewart.

I really dug it throughout, but the finale left me wanting, and not just more. I felt like they kind of robbed the audience of the payoff to what they were building to. I compare it to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier which had a lot of similar themes, but had a much more satisfying payoff for the lead character. Some of the plot lines and motivations of the supporting cast tend to fall apart as I re-examine them too.

Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler were great though. Looking forward to seeing more of Pierre in the role. I just wish they'd given us the KAPOW moment I think he and the show deserved.

I thought the character development was bar none but I could have used some spangly special effects at the end, we earned a little something.
