    Supergirl Teaster Trailer

Full disclosure, I've never read the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow series the film is based on, but I generally dislike Tom King's rather blatant disregard for previous characterization of other people's creations just to explore trauma. Having said that, I think this looks fun. Very Guardians of the Galaxy-like, which isn't a bad thing at all.

    Gunn just used the title.
Kara Zor-El celebrates her 23rd birthday by travelling across the galaxy with her dog Krypto. Along the way, she meets the young Ruthye Marye Knoll and encounters a tragedy that leads her on a "murderous quest for revenge"

Since Lobo was never in the comic and Super-Horse is not in it there are some changes for Tom King story.

      More than just the title-
the tone is based on the mini-series
the thematic underpinnings of the story are based on the mini-series
the personality of Kara is based on the mini-series
the basic plot arc and structure is based on the mini-series

were details changed, characters added and subtracted, etc.? Certainly. But it's not just a familiar title used randomly the way Marvel seems to do in many of their movies and tv shows.

And I absolutely love that Gunn promoted the comic by giving it a shout out, showing it, and a go read it pitch at the end of the teaser trailer.

I find King very hit or miss, more miss than hit, but this Supergirl mini is probably the 2nd best thing by him I've read(1st is the Helen of Wyndhorn creator-owned mini he also did with Bilquis Evely-the artist on the Supergirl mini).
