The current woeful state of modern comics interpretation in a single image.

Looks like yet another reluctant, jaded hero. "Relatable" rather than inspirational or aspirational. Another dirty, faded "S"-shield (is this some kind of rule now?). Overwrought costume design because they seem to be embarrassed by the source material (at least he's not wearing a hoodie... yet). Absolutely joyless.

There are, what, eighty-plus years of literal storyboards and creative design available to the filmmakers in the form of comic books, films, etc.? Why reinvent something that has been so beloved by so many that it's part of our mythology? If they don't think they can make Superman interesting in his classic form, then they have a writing problem, not an "outdated" character problem.

Sorry to be so negative with so little to go on. Just had a slight glimmer of hope with the brightly colored symbol reveal and now this. Just had to vent! Maybe they will surprise me.

The on-location photos leaked today have made me soften a bit on the costume. I still don't like the shape, all the lines, or the fabric much. Seemed kind of pointless for Corenswet to get jacked in a heavy suit that hides his physique. I'm assuming they'll CGI the folds out before release as well. But the collar isn't as bad because in a few shots online you can see that it doesn't cover his throat. I do like the bright colors, the trunks, and the yellow S on the back. I didn't care much for Bale's suit in The Dark Knight when it was first revealed, but that worked in the film. This isn't a deal breaker for me. Other things make me optimisitic about this. The other hero we saw looks great. Fingers crossed this is a great movie and all of my nitpicks end up not bothering me one bit when my butt's in the theater seat.

at least the suit is bright and colorful again. i am hoping for a good movie, at least on par with Superman 78. though admittedly, for us old folks nothing will really ever beat a movie we grew up loving like S78

with the hair style and this its all very all star superman inspired to my eye
