That stuff is ok, I guess ... but it also made Superman more distant.

George also smiled a lot more then Chris
George broke the third wall by looking at the audience and smiling and winking at us. That's why so many kids of the time loved him only we knew he was Superman.

Well that was the target audience were kids at the time. Parents sat along with them so the ratings were huge for the show. The problem was always the shooting schedule would take months if not a whole year.....and when they wet to color fewer shows were made.

Chris's movies as you say was geared to and older audience. It has an incredible charm to it that still holds up well today. The second movie has that too but only the Donner bits...........also Chris did smile at the very end of the movie as he flew over the earth. I always liked that he looked at us and smiled

When I think of Superman...the last thing in my mind is some little girl...lol.

My Superman will always and forever be Christopher Reeve...in my mind...no one has topped him...and never will.

George Reeves is like the Silver Age Earth-1 Superman whereas Christopher Reeve is the Bronze Age Earth-1 Superman....that is, same character but different eras....Both work for me.....

              Christopher Reeve was too stiff

Him as Superman was like having a wax dummy go through the motions

And Christopher's Clark Kent totally sucked.

I will give Kirk Alyn the credit he deserves ...

                      1. He was the first Superman

                      2. He was a good Clark Kent

                      Bad things ....

                      1. Kirk Alyn's portrayal of Superman was horrible
                      He played Superman too Shakespearean
Kirk's portayal was almost over-the-top funny.

                            Remember Sanford and Son ?

Kirk Alyn portrayed Superman like Officer Hoppy
