I only disagree with the order you put them in. Batman should be first, Spidey second!

60s Spider-Man theme song was written by three time Academy Award winner for Best Songs...Paul Francis Webster.

I LOVE the '67 Spiderman classic. I grew up on it and those who didn't will never be able to appreciate what kind of influence and importance it brought to the Spiderman character. There wasn't much out there in the way of Spiderman promotions in the 60's. Spiderman was still a new character to the marketplace at that point. After this cartoon, EVERYONE knew who he was and have associated that theme with the character to this day. NO cartoon version of him since has left as much of an indelible mark as the first. It also was the first cartoon I ever saw that actually applied event music as a tool to tell the story. The best soundtrack in TV animated history. Plus it remains the truest to J Jonah Jameson. No cartoon would reveal him as honestly as this cartoon did. It was nothing for him to tell off Betty Brant or put her down, only to have to apologize later. In today's sickly phony PC world, they couldn't get away with it. Brilliant cartoon.
I have alot of love for the '66 Batman show, but haven't watched it in a while because, quite frankly, I don't like the way Adam West has treated fans with insanely high fees for autographs (even on B/W pics), and a general disinterest for the kids and adults who are there to thank him. You would think a man in his 80's would have let go of his bitterness over being type cast and enjoyed the financial rewards that being "Batman" have brought him in his later years. In life he has definitely taken the 'glass is half empty' approach. But the show itself was great for it's day and actually saved the comicbook from being cancelled. Like Spiderman, Batman made the character hip to the general public and started an explosion of merchandise that we all still enjoy to this day. Without a doubt the character owes much to the television show for his longevity. Forget the movies - The show established the foundation from which the character will always remain popular. Now if we can only get it on DVD...

Give adam a Break... that typecasting cost him and Burt Ward alot in their careers, autograph fees is his likely a major part of his income (actors don't get penstions and he wasn't paid a million a story the way big show actors are today). I doubt he makes a huge check lampooning himself on family guy. If Fox and WB could get the dvd out he could at least get royalties on that)

I always cringe when I hear a Super Heroes name SUNG in their theme song.

I think the best Super Hero theme is George Reeves Adventures of Superman.
It just has a certain dignified majestic feel no other Super Hero themes have.

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree. I love the 60s Batman theme, but it doesn't really have lyrics. (if you wanna get technical, no one is even singing, it's the horns saying 'Batman".) But Spider-Man...that is to this day, one of my fondest after school cartoon memories; watching Spider-man on Ch. 5 at 4:30. I've been showing these to my little charge Noe', and he thinks it's just the coolest! Everytime I see one of my kids wearing something Spidey related, I'll ask if they know the song. One kid actually did, and could sing it from start to finish w/o a mistake (at age 4!). He hadn't even seen the cartoon, but he had a TV theme songs CD.

"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

I love Williams' Superman music...but I couldn't include it here because it's not a TV show...nor does it have any lyrics.

Great post though...I don't know how I missed it!

My fave is Superfriends. There's a cool video called "That Time Is Now" which is by far the coolest superhero music ever IMO.
YouTube - That Time is Now (Superfriends): Michael Kohler

After that, 60s Spidey, then BTAS and Justice League Unlimited are faves.

You don't know how lucrative the autograph business is do you? For ONE show most celebs including Adam West ask for guarantees in autograph fees. Translation: If they don't make those, the show has to pay the difference. It's nothing for a celeb like Adam to waltz in and ask for anywhere from $10,000 to $15,000 for two days work. And THAT is a low end number too my friend, so let's not drink from Adam West's Kool-aid for too long. The man is quite wealthy. So YES he owes his fans respect, otherwise he would be living in a government run, low-income housing establishment (where some days his attitude deserves to place him). No one owes him anything. Your as good as what you make of it. He's managed to make a wealthy living off two years work done in the 60's. Your by yourself feeling SORRY for him.
