    Would you read these?

ok been toying around with 2 ideas in my head.

They would be a comic mini series'

    1) a Team up of all the Hanna barbera created super heroes.
Herculoids, Space Ghost, Blue Falcon, Shazzan,Birdman, Galaxy Trio. etc...

    2) A team up of the animal super heroes.
    Hong kong Phooey,Secret Squirel,Atom Ant, Dyno-mutt. etc..
the story could be Blue Falcon goes missing and Dyno rounds up some friends to help find him.
Looking for Infinite Heroes Robin and Catwoman
    And Super Powers Batman

I think scaling it back a little would work better. Too many characters would muddy the story down unless you're Marv Wolfman and George Perez doing a Crisis-like story.

For example, a Space Ghost/Blue Falcon team-up would be cool. If it's done like a buddy cop movie where they have a volatile yet amicable relationship, it could be comedy gold.

I can't remember if the HB stuff ever really translated into comic book form, so that's soemthing to look at too.

    Fun idea, Riff.

Didn't they already do something similiar?
I seem to recall a show like the first one and the second one was Laff-A-Lympics.

          Hmmmm....

I think part of the problem with doing a straight up superhero book is that the HB superheroes are all pretty similar to each other. For example, in that Space Ghost/Blue Falcon teamup, which one is the "bad" cop? The animal characters would give you more to work with, but it'd hafta be a comedy book. (Unless you did something like the Laff-A-Lympics segment from Robot Chicken.)

You COULD flesh things out a bit. Come up with more personality and detail for the superheroes, but that comes with a few risks:
-you'll probably cheese off the purists
-you'll be monkeying with things cartoonists weren't meant to monkey with, since the HB superheroes were MEANT to be light and immediate.
-adding detail would INEVITABLY change the characters. Not a bad thing, but HB might not be too happy about that.
-tying into the last point, you'd probably have to monkey with the designs (or more correctly, the style) of the characters. They were designed for really simple animation, and some of 'em might not transition into static form so good.

'Course, you could do the same for the animal heroes too; and come up with something in between comedy and serious. HB's SWATKats was a lot like that: it looked like a straight up lighthearted old school superhero show, which for the most part it was, except that there were underlying bits of continuity and people died. (But a ten part miniseries featuring "The Death Of El-Kabong" might be pushing it.)

On a personal note I probably wouldn't go for a straight up comic version of either. It's been done. I might be swayed by some weird new take on things, but like the above indicates, that'd be a tricky line to walk. (Although if you could pull it off either one would be amazing!)

The Galaxy Trio are already a team, and the Herculoids don't have a way to travel around and are a team, too. Maybe Birdman, Space Ghost, Frankenstein Jr, Shazzan, and a couple more. Needs a gal or two in there. Wasn't there some jungle girl type that was part of the Godzilla show at one point?

Thundarr WAS Ruby/Spears....they eventually got sucked up by Hanna-Barbera so he's now part of the H-B family.

Isn't this already on TV? It's called Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law!

I'd buy a comic series based on Harvel Birdman if the creators of the animated series were involved. That's funny stuff!

I'd really like to see a slight update on Frankenstein Jr. The concept for the toon was great.
