I still think it would've been cool to see Who's Who style pages for Jerry Lewis and Bob Hope!

      >If I remember correctly, Sugar and Spike had a cameo in Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Did they?!?!?! I'm gonna HAFTA check that! Wouldn't surpriseme though, since they tried to fit EVERYBODY into that book. (Heck, Detective Chimp is in it!)

      >Considering how often he breaks the 4th Wall, I'd be suspicious about anything being in continuity.

ODD BIT I NEVER THOUGHT OF BEFORE: I've noticed that Marvel and DC borrow from each other a lot, that is; they ripe each other off a lot while changing the formula just enough that it's not quite a ripoff. (Okay, THAT part I noticed.) With that in mind, it's weird how She-Hulk started talking to the audience shortly aftet the second or third Ambush Bug series....

      >After all, Ambush Bug has seen Darkseid working at McDonald's.

They explained that: it was an inflatable dummy A.Bug was using to drum up readers.

      >Stanley and his Monster have appeared in modern continuity during the Kevin Smith run on Green Arrow.

      That is SOOOOO weird....

      >But the I5 did appear in the Oz-Wonderland Wars (a Captain Carrot/Zoo Crew mini-series)

Did they?!?!? I'm gonna hafta check THAT out too!

      >I think they were retroactively placed on Earth-12 after the 1st Crisis (even though by that point Crisis wiped out the infinite earth mindset).

Yeah. I remember about two months after Crisis they had an alternate world show up in a book.... was it this one? (I don't always remember so good 'cos I wasn't a superhero fan; my friends were and I used to read the books to have something to talk about with them.)

      >Super Hip probably didn't appear in Who's Who because he was a supporting character and the main characters themselves didn't appear at the time. I think it was because of space considerations and the fact that DC editorial at the time (Wolfman/Wein/Giordano/Kahn) probably never thought these characters would be used again.

Yeah, and he was part of the Bob Hope continuity; and I doubt they had the rights to Bob Hope then. Some of the omissions I remember reading were difficult for the editors. Prez was one; they WANTED to put him in the book, but didn't have the space for everyone so's he got dropped 'cos he hadn't been in a book for 20 years.

Say.... debating overall continuity.... Are the new kid-friendly DC books part of the overall continuity? If so, are they gonna tie into the big super tie in books? Like the "Darkest Night" run?

        LOVE IT, Don!!!

        Excellent!
BTW, if you have an interest in such, the recent DC Batman: Brave & the Bold book based on the cartoon series just had a Batman (as Bat-Baby) team-up with Sugar & Spike vs. Felix Faust! It was only a page or two, the mid-battle pre-team up stuff as they do in the beginning of the show, but cool to see this. I think it was in #4. Last issue had Batman teamed with Kid Eternity. It's a pretty good book- my only gripe is the cartoony artist, too exaggerated- should be more Dick Sprang-y.

I thought the I5 appeared in that Angel and the Ape mini back i the late 80s/early 90s. Seems I remember Grodd killed Dumb Bunny or something.

I think Prez was omitted from Crisis and Who's Who because he would have had to have been placed on an unidentified Earth, since he was a teenage President of the US, and that just wouldn't jibe with the other DC titles. I recall he did appear in Supergirl's book, somehow.

Maybe Prez was the President of the US on Earth-B?

You may be right....aren't Angel O'Day and Dumb Bunny sisters in some continuity?

Prez was originally not in continuity with the rest of the DCU at the time...but when he appeared in "Supergirl" you're led to believe that he's
in continuity on Earth-1, just like Kara Zor-El.

As I said earlier in this thread, back then, it didn't matter as much, just tell a good story. (Of course, I'll let you decide of Supergirl #10 is actually a good story... I just re-read it and it's typical fare for the era and Cary Bates writing. )

                HAW! That is SOOOOO wrong!

                >I thought the I5 appeared in that Angel and the Ape mini back i the late 80s/early 90s.

Yup! For the most part, the story was about them.

                >Angel O'Day and Dumb Bunny sisters in some continuity?

That's the Foglio story. Angel became a super martial artist 'cos she was jealous of her sister being super strong when they were kids.

                >Seems I remember Grodd killed Dumb Bunny or something.

He broke her neck, but didn't kill her 'cos of her invulnerability.

That's gettin' kinda complicated too. Turns out Prez is really the new Red Hood.
