    Cast the New SUPERMAN Movie!

Ok...we know WB has to make a Superman Movie by 2011...or they lose the rights. So let's have some fun picking the Cast!

    Superman-(#1)Tom Welling(2nd choice-Brandon Routh)
    Lois Lane-Anne Hathaway
    Gen.Zod-Gerard Butler
    Ursa-Carrie Ann Moss
    Jimmy Olson-Shawn Ashmore

    No Lex Luther this time!

    Superman-James Caviezel
    Brainiac-Patrick Stewart
For the rest I got nothing. I do like Anne Hathaway for Lois.

I don't really want to see anything that's been covered already like Zod or Tom Welling.

It's been a VERY long time since Zod was on the big Screen. I want some Villian that Superman can duke it out with Superman! And I think Gerard Bulter(with a Beard)...would make a GREAT Gen.Zod!!

The problem with Zod is that it brings up memories of Superman 2 and people will think its yet another sequel/homage to the old series just like the last movie was. The Superman franchise needs a clean break from the past and rehashing the same villain won't help distance it from Superman Returns.

A new live action Superman movie should have a foe that's never been done before on the big screen....been there, done that with Luthor and Zod. So my vote would be Brainiac, most definitely. If they could capture some of the essence of the recent arc by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank that'd be a good start.

Call me crazy, but I think John Barrowman would make a good Superman.
He's got a little bit of a Christopher Reeve look built right in.

He might be a little old though

Sue me, but I like the idea of Spacey returning as Luthor
and meeting up with Brainiac played by Patrick Stewart...that would
be a real exciting pair to watch interact.

I think that unless they can bring something new to the table, the producers should leave Supes cape hanging in the locker for a bit longer. Assuming they do have to have something in the works by 2011, then its probably best to keep Luthor out of the picture for now. Bring in a villian whos a physical threat to the Man of Steel....I'm not wishing for Doomsday by any means, but somebody of that caliber. Brainiac could be cool, but he would have to be done right.

As for casting....? Brendan Fraser comes to mind, but is too old to satisfy a film companies wishes for a young Superman. However, he might be good for an older Supes character, one whos been around the block a couple of times and is a little wiser( kind of a George Reeves type presentation)...but studios dont want that anymore. They will no doubt want some punk kid like Zac Efron or something for the part!!

No clue on casting Supes really. I like Welling, but let's table that for now.

We need Brainiac. I love Zod, but the Reeve movies MADE that character. He was pretty minor in the comics before. Brainiac has long been denied the spotlight. I like the Brainiac angle from STAS. Let's leave Lex out all together. Maybe Brainiac can clone Supes and give us Bizarro so Superman can have someone to punch.

Darkseid would be cool as well. This Superman needs to be fairly cosmic. It's an aspect of the Superman comics that has yet to make it to the screen, and the tech is there to do it justice. Let Superman fly through some spaceshps and punch some meteors dammit!

I love the Reeve movies. Heck, Superman: The Movie is my all-time favorite movie of all time. But as much as I hate to say it, they may have to lose ALL ties to the Reeve films if they are going to make one this close to Returns. Even the Williams theme. Maybe they can keep it (I hope so), but I think they need to just do a kick-arse Adventure of Superman and keep it simple.

I would like to see them adopt the Fleischer theme (which Williams touched on a bit with his classic work.) Its a great piece of music!!

I really like the Darkseid idea. You could go with an older Superman then...been around for a while, and running out of challenging enemies..You could even start the movie with him stopping (somewhat easily) one of his lesser foes (Toyman?) latest schemes. Supes is bored. Then up pops the boys from Apokolips hell bent on taking over the planet. Of course the only guy who can stop them is Ma and Pa El's little boy, Superman!
