    Aquaman: The Movie

Interesting tidbit in the DC Storms the Film World article:

The studio is taking pitches on ...the underwater-breathing hero "Aquaman," to be produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and his Appian Way shingle.
I wonder if it'll come to pass and Aquaman will FINALLY be recognized as the cool hero he was and can be again and wash away some of the public's preconceived notions of the lame guy from the Super Friends.

If they go with an Aquaman circa the Adventure Comics 70s run I think they'd have all the bells and whistles for it to be a hit...culminating with the death of Arthur Jr., setting up a sequel.

I would love to see a well done Aquaman Movie! DC now has the "Chris Nolan" model for making Superhero Movies...if the follow this...they should be ok.

Naturally...Aquaman shouldn't be "dark" like Batman.

I agree, stick with the Aparo/Adventure comics version from the 70's and I'll pay to see this!! I always based my "performance" of Aquaman when playing with my Megos on the tougher Adventure version, with a bit of Filmations toon thrown in for good measure. Of course, at the time, that was all I had for references to base him on anyways.

I'd love to see this.... would Leo be playing the part as well? I know he was into comics and action figures big time, his collection was awesome!!

Or the guy who plays him in Smallville would be good too

Alan Ritchison (sp) from Smallville does okay on that show, but he's not a good enough actor to carry a big budget movie.

I think with a character like Aquaman, who's been pretty much lambasted by the media over the years, you're gonna need an A-list actor to get people interested in the project....not just someone that looks good in an orange shirt while wet...

I don't think a big Star is needed(say like Matt Damon)...because they carry with them, the Baggage of every other role they've played.

I rather see an Unknown(who can Act)....it worked with Chris Reeve, Christian Bale, etc...

You need someone SEMI-known to the public, like Ryan Renynolds is for GL. Sure, people know him, but most can't remember his name. A lot call him "Van Wilder" or "the guy from waiting", etc. He's on the brink of becoming a name, and I think GL will put him over. That's how Bale was (he wasn't really unknown, with several movies under his belt), and it worked out great for Batman, and he's avoided typecasting as well. Same for Tobey and Spider-Man.

I am looking forward to this myself. It's about time Arthur Curry got some love. I always thought he was cool , and loved the way he looked. I even loved his camo look , and his long hair / bearded / hook look. The funny thing is that hearing this keeps me thinking about Entourage and Vince as Aquaman......

Aquaman is sadly a B list dc hero and that might be generous. He's been around forever but he doesn't have the mass appeal hence the frequent "new" aquaman books because the prior version got cancelled to low sales. even more than GL this is the case for aquaman. lets be honest DC got so desparate to make him work they made him Namor-like in his dislike of the surface world

it will take a great casting and script and a good villian or you'll get waterworld

I think everyone knows who Aquaman is, that should be enough to get his own movie. if anything he's more known then these were

                              Blade
