Maybe Barry's been gone TOO long....everything has changed in the DC Universe about 5 times over since 1986 and Johns has to somehow make Barry fit in today's day-and-age. I don't think he has the handle on Barry yet.....especially since he's been more associated with Wally over the years.

But nobody was stoked when they saw the re-appearance of the ORIGINAL Reverse-Flash at the end of issue #3? Nobody.....?

I think I would want to see Geoff Johns take on Wonder Woman paired with Gary Frank. I bet Frank's version would be very "Lynda Carter".

It would also be interesting to see if he could make Aquaman a top ten book.

I was glad to see him back.

You can't have Barry return without Prof Zoom come back too. As great a character as the new Zoom is, Hunter Zoloman is Wally's badguy.

The amount of history between Barry and Thawne is perfect fuel for the fire. The guy is the ultimate stalker, killed his wife, tried to kill his fiance, pretended that Barry killed him and framed him up for it.

Plus I can imagine there is a great deal of potential to explore the Thawne legacy that has cropped up in the years since. Particularly if you keep in mind Bart Allen is also the descendent of Prof Zoom on his mother's side. Kind of makes the half yellow/half red of the Kid Flash outfit a bit more evocative in that context.

I'm also convinced it's that extra recessive Speed Gene that Bart gets from his Thawne genes that makes him a special case.

No doubt both projects would be HOT and restore these 2 characters to the greatness they deserve....at least until Johns leaves the books and gives them to someone else who screws them up (ala Hawkman....and I'm fearing JSA).

Yeah Cold is probably the top villain IF you're not counting Zoom....he's the yin to the Flash's yang. Two sides of the same coin like GL and Sinestro.

It'd be better if they played up the fact that he is out of the loop. maybe a comment here or there about how things have changed. I'd really like to see a wink at the fact that all his pals have been thru the same thing, GL, Ollie, Hawkman, and even Superman have all been thru the dead for a bit thing. maybe a run in with Batman and Barry instantly realizing its Dick under the hood, too.

Which in and of itself is probably some kind of crazy paradox given the fact that he's the descendent of Barry's evil twin brother Malcolm (whom Barry has never encountered). He's essentially killing his ancestor by murdering Barry's mom!

The Flash's are some kind of crazy hillbilly family. Barry is Bart's Grandfather on his father's side, but also his great uncle to the Nth degree on his mother's.

I think the best comparative description of the difference between Cold and Zoom comes from the movie Unbreakable...

It seems like Captain Cold was always more of a Thug with simpler motivations... get rich. He only tussled with Barry because The Flash stood in the way of his criminal endeavors. Zoom's motivations were pretty twisted... he wanted to BE Barry, but in order to replace him, he had to get rid of him.

It's like those string of stalker movies from the eighties that were kicked off by Fatal Attraction. Single White Female, Hand the Rocks the Cradle, etc.

I actually didn't really think much of Captain Cold (outside of his place in the Superfriends) until Geoff Johns got his hands on him and made him a much more interesting character.

I'm thinking they might be wise to ignore all of that hillbilly aspect of the Allen bloodline....I don't think that Colbalt Blue storyline was well received by fandom in general.
