AnyOne Know What's Up With Namor ?

    So,

What's up with Namor these Days.... ?.?.
I have been recently reading Dark Avengers,... & To be Honest I really don't read that much Marvel to Know,.. But with the Dark Avengers,.. They have this CrossOver going on with the X-Men,.. that Will Ultimately Result in the Dark X-Men . ... Well in the Dark X-men book,.. Namor is one of the Dark X-Men.

So ,.. Ahhh when was he ever consider'ed an X-Men type,.. I missed something here.... & Actually Missed alot. Is He a Baddie again,.. or something ? With all the Baddie's kinda in Good Guy get-up's with the Dark Reign BS,.. & The True Hero's mostly going underground,.. or not wanting anything to do with them,.. What's Namor's Story ? Why's this Guy Hanging out with Osborn & Company ? Does Osborn Have something on him,.. or What's going on there ? ... I seem to have missed something...

I'm actually curious as well. It's obvious the guy has fallen on hard times, particularly given how Alex Maleev chose to intepret Namor from Bendis' script in the Dark Reign special.

What happened between Atlantis Attacking (from left field) in Civil War and Dark Reign? How was Atlantis destroyed and/or Namor deposed (for the umpteenth time). I'm assuming it took place in The War of Kings?

I did like the moment that Doom and Namor shared. I really enjoyed Super Villain Team-up as a kid, and even though their initial hookups on that title were tenuous at best (and probably still is), it looks like they have fallen into a rhythm over the years. "Same thing we always do... you take the sea, I'll take the land."

It was pointed out in this early issue of The Uncanny X-Men, that he was a mutant (and in fact probably Marvel's First Mutant at that point).

Namor's Undersea Kingdom has hit really hard times, you know.. The previous administration there was busy looking for Undersea Weapons of Mass Destruction next door at Aquaman's kingdom.

Some say that Namor's predecessor, Krang reportedly even misled members of the Atlantean High council on this in an effort to topple the illegal regime of the rival warlord Attuma, though some speculated that control of the Undersea Lemurian Oil fields was really the reason for the conflict. All the while, the evil Renegade Black Manta has been reportedly holed up somewhere in the Undersea caverns of Mu, occasionally releasing messages to taunt the Imperious Rex.

Wait a minute , did someone mix in those news magazines with my comics again??

Don't you just hate it when that happens!

Namor's been in the last couple issues of Agents of Atlas, where he's said that he is keeping tabs on Osborn to prevent Atlantis being attacked or used again. He was hot & heavy with Namora as well, some background being given on the Atlantean breeding programs that produced the pair. I think they are manipulating him into being more like the original 40S version (pre-Invaders), maybe to coincide with the 70th Anniversary stuff Marvel's doing.

THAT is an understatement... one of many reasons why the nuMarvel is NOT for me.

These artists REALLY need to stop "casting" actors in every role. Esp, if said actor doesn't FIT that role.

Google Image search has doomed comic book art.

I've always suspected that the reason some artists do this is 'cos they're drawing in a more realistic way, nd it's a lot easier to do so from a model rather than make a character whole cloth. (Noticed it way back with "Marvels," when you could name almost every "actor" in the book. "HEY! Reed Richards is the Professor!")

When they first started doing it, I hoped it was just a passing fad. Now I can see that certain artists are using it as a crutch or perhaps because it makes their work "special" (insert whatever current slang word equates with " subversively popular".

In either case, I don't like it... one more reason I find myself spending more and more time with my classic books ...

The casting fad for comic artists did lead to Sammy jackson playing Nick Fury.
