So is Cap #600 a bust?

I haven't heard any reviews for this issue. I did hear one person say the whole issue is about a reflection by people of what happened the day he was shot, but I thought that was already done. Doesn't sound like anyone was knocking down the doors to pick this issue up... not that I can blame them.

I haven't read the entire book yet, but it doesn't look like much happened. There was a bit of a reveal concerning Sharon Carter. Ross & Dini did one of thier 2 page spread character pieces. There's a GA reprint story. I will say that the illustrations are beautiful.
    Hey! Check out the pictures.

This comic was a sad disappointment for an Aniversary issue. Nothing much major happened within. Did it merit an special Monday shipment? The answer is No. was this a test to see how well a Monday shipment would do and work out? perhaps. However, this one book was a big let down. I will say one thing on its behave, There are 2 panels which will make the reader say ok, ( However, we all knew that will happen)
      The GA reprint is nice.
What do the rest of you think? let me know.....

Haven't picked it up yet but it seems like this whole gimmick Marvel has cooked up with the Monday ship date and the "big" press release didn't take off like they planned.

Yeah I agree Anthony. I think the gimmick has been overused to renew interest in fading titles and the consumer is wising up.

Marvel's already going to a 2nd printing and claiming the 1st issue is sold out even though many retailers are reporting that the issue isn't moving because of the price and the fact that NOTHING HAPPENS.....

Now THAT'S bad. When you have to invent your own sales figures you know your in trouble. We have no less than THREE comic shops in Louisville and they all have plenty on the shelf. Marvel may have seriously miscalculated the interest in what most of us assumed was and obviously is the restoration of Steve Rogers as Cap. Now their playing damage control.

The reader talkback entries at Newsarama definitely back this up.... there are apparently TONS of copies to go around ....

That's a great Jackson Guice piece of art though. Guice can get that Kirby feel about better than anyone, without totally apeing him.

There's a great homage to Don Heck, too.

So, is the real Cap still dead?
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Wasn't the strongest anniversary issue I've ever read, although I would say that it was good value for the price if you appreciate the old school reprints.

Story and Art stand up to most of Brubaker and co's run. It will be fine for those reading in trades.

Not worth the hype. It should have just come out as a regular book and most folks already on board would have been fine with it, and maybe a few other readers would pick it up.

Might have been a different story if Steve had actually come back in this issue, but even then it's no big deal since it has only been a couple of years for Cap versus decades for Barry Allen.

I'm sure it will be a great give-away if a store has dozens of overstock copies for Free Comic Book Day next year. Particularly since it is a nice thick volume with material for old and new fans alike.
